T-6ing

I posted this morning about yesterday, below, so I guess I'm posting tonight about the rest of the day. I had a plan for the day, but it got changed. Steve called and said he needed me to fly the T-6, because they'd finished up on repairs on it.  I had one rider scheduled for tomorrow, and he's just added a second one in. The second guy drove our Oshkosh trailer up to Oshkosh for us, and back, and did it voluntarily, not paid. So Chuck and Steve would like to thank him with a ride, especially while I've already got the plane out. Oh no. I have to fly the T-6 TWICE. Works for me. ;)

Today I took up Ethan from maintenance with me on the T-6 checkout flight. He's not a pilot, he's new to our group, but he's been working hard on our stuff, so Steve wanted to give him a thank you. He liked the G's, enjoyed what we did. I flew down by the hangars, went up and did some maneuvers with him, did a fly-by at Glenndale, let him do some flying, etc. He really did have fun with it, and so did I. And I got a bunch of texts, too, which made me smile. Kaylee said she saw me circle over the house to say hi. Ron says "Thank you, we really, really needed that. It's dead out here". Michelle texted that she was in the parking lot of Shoe Carnival and heard a radial and looked up and Checkertail went right over her. Justin texted "Bad Laura", which made me laugh, but made me laugh twice because the picture he sent with it of my ADS-B track didn't show up until later. Proof that I didn't stay 500' above persons, obstacles, etc. What's even better is that when I first took off, I flew by the hangars, and I was so low the ADS-B didn't even start tracking me yet. Heh. It felt good to bomb around in it again. I'll enjoy it tomorrow too, I'm sure.

Steve, Chuck, Morgan and I went to Harvey Hinklemeyers at the old person's time of 4:45 pm for dinner. They eat that early so they can meet back at the house and have a cigar, some whisky, sit around a fire, etc.  So we ate a little, and then the boys went to go do their thing, and Morgan and I went to the Coterie in town, a bar, to have a "did not die" drink on her behalf. After dealing with her emergency, she wasn't really too bothered, but still, it was worth getting a drink for. So we got there like at 6 pm, and stayed until 9 pm, having a couple of drinks and just talking about life and stuff.

That's about it for today. The moon rising was full and large, Steve and the guys got done around 9:30 outside, Kaylee is watching the new "Wednesday" season, and I'm getting ready for tomorrow and next week...
