I went out to Kokomo and ran up BOB. I was going to test fly it and take all our summer kids who are out there working on a test flight with me, but BOB started leaking more oil and is not going to be test flown today. And half the crew didn't come in because the one who is in charge of them, Brennan, wasn't there today so he told them not to come in so they wouldn't wander around aimlessly. Good planning. Brennan will likely be the next Morgan. He's a very good stick and rudder pilot, also a good instrument pilot, super nice kid (he's also 21 so not really a kid but you know what I mean), and I like him. He wants to be around here and grow into the role too, and I think he'll be a good fit around here long term too. He's still scared of me right now, but so was Morgan until not that long ago, so it'll work out, I'm sure. ;)
This afternoon I had my dress fitting. I asked Kaylee the most stupid question--should I wear the dress there or do you bring it and change into it normally. She's like..."um...you're leaving the dress there to be altered. So unless you want to walk out of there naked, you might want to wear something else!" Oh geez. That ranks as the single most stupid question I may have ever asked. Whoever says there's no such thing as a stupid question is wrong. Very wrong. Goes to show you I panic at this stuff because I don't know anything about it.
But the fitting went well. She's a nice Mennonite lady who was working on a wedding dress when I got there. She pinned up the hem, brought up the shoulders so it wouldn't hang down quite so low, and will take up the slit at the leg so that its' a nice normal slit, not one that goes all the way up to nobody's business. ;) She said she'd text me when it was done and I could come get it. She did not say how long it would take her, but I hope it's not all the way up to the wedding. It's got room around the waist, but I left it there so I could sit down comfortably without it bulging too much or being too uncomfortable. So that's off and running. Steve's dress shirt arrived, his pants will be hemmed as of the 26th, he needs shoes still, and I need jewelry, and to figure out if I'm doing something with my hair, but other than that, I think we're ready for this particular shin-dig. We do still need clothes for the night before, though, too. Steve hasn't even thought about that one yet. ;)
Met up with Chuck, AE, Steve and Morgan at Harvey Hinklemeyers afterwards for some excellent pizza, and home to catch up on a few things. I was working on tomorrow's trip to Michigan (will explain that in a minute) when I got a text from Gayle, Dad's wife. She let me know that Dad is being sent home to go on at-home hospice care. The doctors' advice and his wishes lead to this being the decision they've come to terms with. We're going to see if there's a day we can come down for a couple of hours. Kaylee wants to do that. So I asked Gayle if that would be acceptable, or just another burden to deal with, and she said he would like to see us, so we'll try to do that. Kaylee's gone this weekend for the wedding stuff, and I have trips Sunday and Monday. Kaylee has something Tuesday and Wednesday that would be hard to miss. I have a trip Thursday. Most of these trips are not something I can just duck out of. I don't have a back-up in the Cheyenne for Texas or Colorado. There are a lot of people who have appointments set up with other people for those days. But I'm going to see if Kaylee can make Tuesday work. Or me cancel my Monday guy and hope he can reschedule his people. I think if we wait much more than that, it'll be too late. I doubt he has a whole lot of days left. This will sound bad, but while I will try to go, if I don't make it in time, I will be fine. But Kaylee will be bothered, and that's enough for me to try to figure it out.
Oh, I posted about yesterday in the next post down. Just a Colorado trip, nothing too earth shattering.
Ending on a weirder note, I'm sitting at home catching up on the news, and the story is about 16 billion passwords that were leaked. They had on a former CIA operative important dude to talk about it. I didn't hear a word he said. I glanced up at the TV, saw his face, which kept moving around to different parts of my TV screen, and it just kept getting worse. Dude has serial killer eyes. No shit. Look at this. This is a series of photos taken over about 5 minutes of the segment. He never did not look like this. And something else was wrong with his face. AI? A filter maybe? I didn't edit these, this is how he appeared on on a high-res TV, exactly like this.
Not that bad, and then
Bam
AAAAAAAAAAAAH! RUN!
And this is my dress, and some shoes I already had that maybe would work? Do we think these shoes would work?
