Missouri

Six am for today. When we went to bed last night, the weather was sketchy as to whether it would be rain or storms. When we woke up, the same was true. Morgan asked if we were going to send it or not, and I said we were. I have decided if we ever started a business together, we'd call it "Send It, LLC". ;)

We both drove to Marion, and she ended up right behind me on the main road, which made me laugh. It was grey and misty, but good enough to scud over to Frankfort, where Andy and his guy were waiting on us already, 15 minutes early. We loaded them up, and launched for Kennett, Missouri. Went around some stuff, went over some stuff, shot the RNAV approach in for some low-ish clouds into Kennett, and we made it without the storms, just rain. Hard rain, but rain.

On the way over, we flew right over Lawrenceville, where I learned to fly. And Flora, where I had my first fabulous instructing job. And Cape Girardeau, where my Mom lives. I waved and said "HI MOM!" as I went over. :)

We were only on the ground for less than 90 minutes. We self-serve fueled up the Meridian--my hands were filthy from the hose. The only food in town was Wendy's or McDonald's, so we borrowed the courtesy car and went to McDonald's. He gave us the van because it's better than the Buick. I drive through McDonald's and my window won't roll down, so I have to do the whole thing by opening my door, which cracked up Morgan. I drove through a coffee shop next and we got some good coffee, and then sat in a parking lot in the rain and ate/drank. I got a text "back in 15 min", and we ran back to the airport, threw away our trash, returned our fancy van, loaded up the guys, and departed for Frankfort. More weather, but nothing super exciting this time either, we just went around some buildups and rain.

Landed at Frankfort and dropped them off, topped off the airplane, and had to wait until the IFR lifted again. I flew us back to Marion. We both drove back to Kokomo Airport, and on the way I stopped at the Amish store and picked up a turkey sandwich, and some black raspberry cinnamon rolls. A-mazing. I noticed a gluten-free aisle with pastas and crackers and flours and stuff and sent a pic to Kaylee.

Got back to Kokomo, and Morgan and I took up the Champ. She had a less than satisfying experience the last time, and wanted to redeem herself. She didn't really accomplish that, although she kind of did. Her last 3-point and last wheel landing were both greasers, but she didn't have consistency and that drove her nuts. At the end, I suggested she leave the tail up and speed taxi up to the taxiway. She hadn't done that before, so she added a ton of power, and I'm like "not that much, back it off, back it off, we're going to..." and we take back off, cut power and re-land. We still end up getting off on the proper taxiway. I laughed so hard. lol

After we put the Champ away, Morgan, Steve and I drove to Harvey Hinklemeyers and met up with Chuck and had some dinner. I left there and went to UPS and dropped off my expensive formal gowns to return them, then over to Staples to return all my Amazon cheaper gowns. That all went pretty quickly. Went to CVS to pick up Steve's meds, then came home. I need to organize receipts that I got behind on, and some billing, and laundry, but now that we've canceled our flying event for tomorrow, I have the time to do all these things. I even have time to upload my few photos. I updated yesterday's Colorado posts with some photos, and here are today's.
