Okay

I've found myself weirdly emotional for me lately, but I think it's probably fair, and today I feel better.

Last night, I just wanted to be alone to pout, but as soon as Steve left, Kaylee came over for hours to keep me company, and within 10 minutes of her leaving, Steve called on the phone to talk all the way home. I haven't had Any time to just decompress, and it was making me even more on edge and cranky and sad. We were watching American Idol just to have something on, and one of the songs made my eyes water. I'm like...dude...stop.

I went for some comfort food. I wanted pudding in a cloud. With butterscotch pudding. I didn't have any, so I splurged and went on Meijer and ordered 3 things. Butterscotch cook and serve pudding, eggs because I'd just run out, and cool whip. Shopper gets back to me and says "They're out of the 12 count whatever eggs". I said "I don't care what eggs they are, who they're from, how many are in there, I'll just take some eggs".  Next up: "they don't have any cook and serve butterscotch pudding". Fine, do they have chocolate? I'll take that. Two out of three things I needed, they didn't have, which is annoying, but finally I have chocolate pudding and cool whip on the way. He's about to deliver it when it occurs to me. Can't make the cook and serve pudding without milk. I look. No milk. I sit down and sigh in frustration. Kaylee offers to go to the corner CVS and pick up milk for us. She comes back with a weird carton of different brand milk because it was the only thing there. This is when it occurs to me that it's two days before Easter. Of COURSE they're out of eggs and stuff!

I made the the pudding in a cloud, lined our bowl with cool whip and put the warm pudding inside, and Kaylee and I hung out and ate pudding and watched Idol. It took a lot of effort to get it done, so we were going to enjoy it.

Mood was still low, so I went to bed early to start over.

We had researched and found several other dental places that said they'd do "emergency" root canal things, so I didn't have to necessarily wait two weeks to get this done. But the down side is, I don't need some back corner hack job, either, I need to make sure they were good. My plan after all that research was to call my own place first thing this morning and beg them to get me in sooner. If it wasn't going to happen, then I could try to find out which of these places had good reviews, and try to get in sooner with them.

I woke up this morning and was getting ready to call when They called Me, and said "We have an opening tomorrow at 3:30 pm, it's first come first serve, do you want it or..." I'm like YES I want it. I asked if they had any drugs they'd prescribe and she said yes, but you have to come in for a consult ahead of time (which we don't have time for) and need a driver home. OR, I could do nitrous oxide for $140. I chose that. Yesterday on the dentist table just doing a standard filling on the left, I started shaking from the time the big needle hit my face until I was walking out of there. I am...medical procedured Out at the moment. I pulled up my big girl pants too many times and I ripped them. So either I'm going in there with a couple of shots of something in my system, or they're going to nitrous me. ;) But I'm super grateful that that part is going to be over with after tomorrow. Well, hopefully. They said if the tooth is cracked I can't do the procedure and I'll be back to my dentist who will then just pull the tooth. I don't want that either. If I CAN do the procedure, then I have to go back to him and he puts a crown over it. So still not done done, but 2/3rds done. Good heavens.

I printed out my paperwork and went to the lab this morning in order to get my bloodwork done to verify my levels of things that the doc wanted to double-check. That was super easy, and they were indeed able to find a spot, although I do have a new set of bruises to go with the old ones. She switched out needles because she said the same thing the hospital did. "My you have small veins". Thank you, I guess. Only things small on me are my head, my hands and feet, my ears, and my veins. Lovely. ;)  They said the results would take 1-3 days, so I'll be hitting "refresh" on my online account every now and then and try to see how things are going. Would be nice to have a couple of those numbers before my procedure tomorrow afternoon, but...beggars and choosers and all that.

Made it over to lunch for the first time in 2 weeks. Me, Steve, Nathan, Kevin and their coworker John. Chuck's sister-in-law died, so he was over in Ohio with family.  But it was nice to get out and about for the first time, and I didn't wear out too hard until the end. It was cold in there, so by the end when I was wearing out and cold both, it was time to go.

When I got home, I started catching up on things I hadn't been able to concentrate on. My logbook, the CAF website for logging the flights in the Beech (and boy did I screw that up originally, that took me some effort to untangle). I also did some research and got a trial CGM (Constant Glucose Monitoring) system. I just want to look at numbers, see what foods affect me the most, see what things look like for a little while here.  The other thing was...while I was in the waiting room at the blood lab, looking around was disturbing I guess.  The lady next to me, her face was dark mottled red, and I was concerned about her health just sitting there. Then she fell asleep sitting up in the chair, and she couldn't breathe, and she was like choking over there, snorting herself awake. I found myself taking my own deep breaths, like you do when you're watching a movie and someone is trapped underwater or under ground. Like yes, I can still breathe, I'm okay. The guy across from me had to be 450-500 lbs. In the corner was a tiny wizened old lady, big eyes and tiny bones and a four-legged walker, dropped off and alone. And me. I have felt like I'm a mess, but I am only a small, reversible mess at this point. And I am going to do some things to make sure I don't find myself in an unreversible health hole.

This afternoon I took our trash out back. Steve was going to do it earlier but he ran late, so I decided to do it slowly and see how it went. One at a time, slow moving, they're on wheels, so it wasn't bad.

Went inside for awhile, worked awhile longer, ordered some stuff off Amazon, and then decided to do some walking. Yesterday I paced around the house for awhile, and it felt good, and I think it helped my swelling and water retention go down, because today I felt almost back to normal, and I was 3 pounds lower than the day before. All water. So today, it's so sunny and the birds are chirping and the trees are flowering and the skies are blue so I decided to walk around the block. One block. Not that hard, right? Well... I ended up short-cutting it by taking the alley instead of going all the way to the next street, and I cut through the yard of a house 3 houses from the end of the road. So I didn't get the full block in, but I got 2/3rds of a block in, and then it was time to rest for a little while. Not trying to push too far, either. Four days ago I was in an ICU and bedridden and unable to eat for about 6 days, so...I think I'm doing all right. :)

Will update tomorrow after the dental procedure and maybe I'll get lucky and get my lab results back sooner too.
