Dayton International

Today was a windy one. Morgan, me, Nick and Logan took the 340 to Dayton International. Morgan flew left seat and got us there. We went into town and had brunch. I flew us home. We now had 33 knot winds taking off out of there at a 60 degree crosswind, and coming back into Frankfort I had 32 knot winds that were a direct crosswind. I warned everyone it might be a rough approach and landing, but the approach wasn't that bad and the landing was actually pretty nice. lol

Then Steve, Morgan and I went down to Greek's Pizzaria to eat with the pilot group, had a really nice pizza. On the drive home, the line of storms that blew up moved through, and the gust front in front of it was Fierce. The lightning show was amazing. The winds were so high the rain was blowing sideways and we couldn't even see the road. Second time in a couple weeks I was on a road I couldn't see, once for snow, once for rain. It was coming DOWN. We made it home very slowly, got in and turned on the TV to see if there were any tornadoes around, because signs were whipping around, tree branches were already down, garbage cans were down with trash spilled in the streets, it was a mess out there just in the 10 minutes we were on the road. There were a few tornado warnings but not for Kokomo, at least. When I got inside, I charged up all my electronics in case we ended up with a power outage, but that probably isn't going to happen either.

I've been awake at 6 am for several days in a row, so I look forward to trying to sleep in tomorrow. Maybe I'll take an allergy pill or something so I can be tired enough to sleep past 6 am tomorrow after all. ;)
