How Dry I Am

Remember the part yesterday where I said "At least we can still flush the toilet"? Well, not any more.

Roto Rooter came back out today with a big snake and a camera. After an hour or so they determined that one of our pipes is collapsing. So they can drill through, but then they can't get their equipment back out of there hardly, the pipe collapses around them. We marked the spot in our yard, they charged us $300 and ran over our bricks and gutter on the way out, and now we have no working water. No showers, no sinks, no toilets, no washing machine, no dishwasher. We can't flush for some reason, the water just won't go down at all, and tries to come back up through the tub or the hole where the other toilet was. Not sure WHY the toilet won't flush to be honest. Not draining properly is one thing, but not flushing?! What's that got to do with it?

So for now we've been running over to Kaylee's every time somebody has to pee. That'll be convenient at 3 am. Or for that matter tomorrow morning at 6 am when I have to get up to get ready for a flight to Colorado.

They gave us an estimate of $6500 to come in, dig up our yard, and replace the section of pipe that they say has probably collapsed.  Don't know what we're going to do yet, or with who, but this obviously isn't sustainable as is for very long here.

Watched Gladiator II this afternoon. The hardest part for Steve was how many bathroom breaks he usually takes in the middle of movies and shows and now he has to leave the house to do it. It would be funny if it was funny. Liked the movie anyway. Minus the creepy CGI/AI scary crazy monkey dog things they used at the beginning in the first arena. I don't know who designed those "monkeys" but apparently they were crazy, angry, drugged up, or all three.

Tonight I need to pack my bag. I have an advantage over Steve. I'll be leaving the house at 7:15 am tomorrow to go to Gunnison, CO, drop off Ethan, then take the plane over to Grand Junction, CO where I'll stay until they fix the airplane, which may be Wednesday morning, and then hopefully I'll be home Wednesday night. So I will be in a hotel anyway, a hotel which will have a shower and a toilet that works. And I'll get paid for a couple of the days anyway, and get my meals paid for, so I kind of win for the next couple of days, while Steve is stuck here trying to figure out what to do and how. *sigh*

Good times, good times.

I should've run the dishwasher full of dirty dishes before we had them come back and finish collapsing that pipe, back when we could actually run things if we just did it carefully. Sure am glad I took a shower this morning, back when we could actually run things if we did it quickly/carefully. lol

Guess I'll go watch football, pack a bag, plan my trip for tomorrow, not pack anything I can't take on an airliner just in case the plane gets stuck out there, and move on.
