The weather was a little sketchy for my fly-over for the Veteran's Day parade today over in Peru, Illinois. Actually we flew over Uttica, IL. They do their parade a week early so they can get bagpipers and other things and have plenty of veteran participation.
I loaded up Morgan and went ahead and went. The rain held off until I got there, and I started getting wet in the pattern. I got there around 10:15 or so, and we weren't to fly-over until 1, so we sat inside, talked, watched it rain. Waves of rain came in, and mine can't get wet without risking the radio frying, so they opened a hangar door and I shoved the plane under the door to keep the mast and nose out of the wet. It worked, as my radio was fine, fortunately.
The fly-over, we were out at the runway right as the worst of the rain was passing through. It was bumpy, gusty, and just four of us, and I'm not sure how great it always looked, but we got the job done. Brad took us out for Mexican food afterwards. It was a good day, I made some brownie points, helped get a job done, was able to support the veteran's parade, and get some formation practice in, which I need. Win/Win/Win. :)
I stopped over at Kaylee's after I got home, and Molly the cat likes me. She came right up and rubbed all over me, let me pet her, and when I left, she trotted after me almost to the door. She's a sweet cat!
We were behind the TBM up there, as a 3-ship behind it, Brad in the TBM, Mike in this T-6, JP in the yellow one
Spread out a bit
