Gorgeous

I think I've been in a little funk. I've been tired all the time, unmotivated, sleeping either a lot or not enough.  I feel better today though.

When I got up, I headed out to go give a T-6 ride. I didn't even feel like it, to be honest. I could have gone flying last night in the Champ, and I didn't feel like it so I didn't. Today I had to, because we'd arranged it. When I stepped outside, it was beautiful, cool, sunny, just a perfect day.  The guys had the plane out for me, and we loaded up this guy, who is a welder, who has done several small jobs for us before, without charging us, so we thanked him with a ride. Jon set it up, and he was right to do so.  His name is Dave, and as we were climbing up to get some altitude, he said this was a bucket list flight for him, and that he was inspecting the welds back there. I said "So what do you think", and he said it was an impressive and excellent job. I thought "whew, glad to hear that!" lol

I let him fly for a bit, then I asked the usual "Do you want me to yank it around a little or do you like it just like this", and he wanted me to do whatever I wanted to do. I always start with a steep turn to see how they react, as that then tells me whether or not to shallow out of it, lighten up, rachet it up, etc. He was good to go. So I gave him about 3 Gs, a little bit of everything. I haven't actually done aerobatics since last year, and normally I'd like to go do them myself before putting a passenger in there, but he wasn't a pilot and wouldn't know the difference, and I hadn't felt like it. So today I did some rolls and such anyway with him, they were fine, he had a blast, I had fun, and when I got back on the ground I was in a much better mood than I'd been in a long time.  Aviation therapy.

It put me in such a good mood that even though I went to the BMV, and even though I was 40 numbers behind the number being called, and had to wait a long time, and even though I could only get plates on one of the cars because I'm missing a paper on the other car, so I have to come back, even after that, instead of just going home doing nothing like I'd felt like lately, I went back out to the airport in a perfectly good mood.  I ended up going to the store and picking up some house stuff that we needed, took my time, and today we had the Flying Squirrels too.

Pizza Hut botched our order. Usually they deliver, but it went to the wrong place so we had to pick it up. They only gave us 5 of the 6 pizzas we ordered, and instead of 2 cheese, 2 sausage and 2 pepperoni, it was 3 cheese and 2 sausage. They botched everything about it.  Dang Pizza Hut.

Erin Conner was the guest speaker for the Squirrels, and she's done a little bit of everything. Military contractor, A&P, Netjets, airline, instructing, all sorts of stuff. And she started flying 28 years ago...with ME as her instructor. Talk about making a person feel old. She's talking about retirement and stuff!  :o She also had two flight suits that were made for women that she gave me. One of them is a little too small, the other one fits better than the man flight suit I wear, less baggy in all the wrong places. So that's nice! I just have to get my patches on them.  I'd like to have a smaller middle section to go with them. *sigh* I'm not working on that hard enough.

Kaylee had her job interview today, and it went well, and they are offering her $48,000 salary. The rub is, she doesn't really want to work there. There are a lot of pros to working there, but a couple of the cons are bigger ones to her. Her dad wants her to take the job and the money. She wants to look for another place that may pay less but would be more towards the goals she wants to achieve.  I think it would be smart for her to take the job even if just for a year, gain the experience, but if she can find something that rings her bell and still pay the bills, then...I'd want her to go for that too. She can't get hired until she gets her license which she can't do until after they confer her degree which will be August sometime. So there's a little time, but this place is where two friends of hers also work, that's one of the big pros.  I don't know, we'll have to see how this goes. I think it would be smart of her to take the job as a therapist with good pay right out of college, but...sometimes smart means different things, and requires different paths for happiness.
