Unexpected Days

I was supposed to go to Florida today. Usually take the Cheyenne, but it's in annual. Was going to take the Conquest, but it's in Ohio getting engine work done. So I'm left with the 340, which is going to take a long time to get there, an even longer time and a fuel stop to get home.

I woke up at 3 am and couldn't get back to sleep, so I checked the weather.  There was a HUGE wad of storms in between Indiana and Florida. 300 miles long and 160 miles wide, tops at FL550.  I also got Florida EDCTs. Four of them. I was supposed to leave at 8, and by the end of four EDCTs, I wouldn't have gotten to leave until 2.  Florida being freaking Florida. By the time the wad moved through, another skinny but nasty line stretched from New Orleans to Florida. No way under it, over it, around it, or through it.  So my trip to FL did not happen, and is rescheduled for tomorrow, where I hope I have better weather. Supposed to.

Instead, the Bonanza formation clinic is here this weekend. Today was their groundschool, so they were inside talking all day, with one demo flight for all the new people.  Steve and I went up in the Aerostar and he did three more takeoffs and landings, getting back up to speed in the airplane.  After the Bonanza people were done, Glenn and I went up in the T-6 so he could get his three takeoffs and landings currency in.  Then we all went to dinner at Half Moon. A dozen of us. Loud inner room, but good food and good company.

But for now, I need to head to bed. Get up early. Fly to Florida. Hope I don't have more EDCTs or weather. Get back in time to hang out at OKK and drink and have pizza.
