You know what we got today? NOTHING. It sprinkled once. It was windy. Our TV has been taken over for hours this evening by storms south of us. It was fine, all day, and we totally could have gone and gotten back in time as needed. I got up at horrible hours of the day, for absolutely no good reason.
I went back to sleep sometime around 4:30 am, and I did sleep until almost 8. But I've been dragging butt all day anyway.
After lunch I went out to Kokomo and ran up BOB, as we're checking for a vacuum pump issue. Then we pulled out Jerry's Citabria, and got it running for the first time since its major engine repair/overhaul. Now that he's 88, his insurance company insists he get a flight review every 12 months and it has to be in his type aircraft, a Citabria. I did his FR in his Stinson last year, and he hasn't lost a step. In fact, the Champ had an engine quit in the pattern with him instructing a student, and he calmly lands it deadstick and doesn't think much about it. He doesn't need a flight review every 12 months. But they insist and he is honest, so he won't even fly his Citabria on his own until I do another flight review with him in it. So as soon as it's up and running, I'll do that so he can go fly his own airplane, with insurance coverage.
Nothing exciting today. Morgan drove to Terre Haute to start her MEI training, and she said the ground portion today went well. Next week they fly 4 times or so, and her checkride is scheduled for I think the 21st. Then she'll be done with checkrides, which excites her. ;) I'm trying to set up Cameron to do the same thing next.
We're trying to watch Rookie and such, only to have the news take over the TV since 5:30 pm (it's now almost 9 pm) and show these stupid storms in real time while they talk about them non stop. For hours. I will say it again. If I wanted to watch the Weather Channel, I would turn on the Weather Channel. I want to watch normal TV shows, and I am annoyed as Hell about it. I'm going to have to go to bed super early again tonight, get up at 4:30 am again, and I'll have spent my evening watching the freaking weather. Slowly. Pass. By.
Grr.
