The 6th I went to Owensboro, KY with Nick, and it was low IFR, minimums again. I had to go into another airport because our original airport didn't have approaches that went to 200' and 1/2 mile, and I needed that.
The 7th was more low IFR, going to Danville and Pontiac Illinois with Stephen and a guy. I was really tired on this one, I haven't been sleeping well. But I couldn't nap at the airports I was at, so I was just tired.
The 8th I didn't have to leave until 12:30 and I slept okay, but was still tired. I went to Flint, MI and St. Louis, MO. There was moderate rain all over the entire route of flight. St. Louis, when I got handed off to the last approach, they said "You ARE landing at Lambert, right?" because it's an airline hub and us little people don't usually go there, right? When I went to leave the FBO, the lady at the desk didn't want to let us out to the airplane without the crew. I said I was the pilot. She asked if I had a badge or something. I laughed and said no, we're General Aviation. She was a little suspicious but finally let us out before I had to pull out my pilot's license and show her.
It's kind of fun going into the big places now and then, but I'm glad those aren't the only places I go. I did get my clearance via text and email, which is nice. When it's all written down for you already you don't have to copy it while they're talking and hope you got it all right.
The 9th I was supposed to fly the T-6 with the guy down in Terre Haute. I didn't feel like it, and I wasn't sorry it was cloudy and windy and he canceled. Steve, Kaylee and I went to Market Street Square for my birthday dinner, and it was really good. Afterwards we went to her apartment where he helped her fix a couple small things. It's looking more and more homey in there. :)
While we were there, a young lady came up to me and said "Are you Laura?" I was, and it happened to be a good friend of Morgan, my student. So this girl took a photo with me to send on to Morgan to shock her. She recognized me from Instagram. Too funny.
On my actual birthday here, it was sunny and cold and windy, and I stayed inside, ordered in food, watched movies with Steve, kept it low key. I'd have gone and test flown the T-6 after its annual, but it's cold and windy. Tomorrow looks like a better day, warmer, less windy, ergo a better plan. I've also got a morning trip with Ethan to Ohio, so it'll be productive in a couple ways...
I've been too busy to have anything interesting to tell you. I did wear myself out the last week, and with the gray skies and wind and blah, I felt like crap. I was bummed out, Steve was bummed out, Kaylee is sad because her company is closing their doors and it's in the final days, it was just a bummer of a week or so. Even the flying wasn't fun for me, I just wanted to do nothing and be a bum. Which is kind of what I did yesterday and today, and it was nice. ;) Hopefully with later sunlight and warmer days, things will start feeling like life again.
Happy 52 to me. ;)
