Alabama

This was a tougher morning to wake up to.  It was 5 am, and one of those where you're sleeping so hard, the buzzing on my wrist confused me and it took a few seconds to drag out of sleep.  I've been tired all day, since.

D and I headed to Decatur, AL.  Shot an approach in there.  I took a courtesy car, and I just wanted a bowl of oatmeal. But something interesting about Decatur, AL, right by Huntsville there.  There were very few places to eat, and the places there to eat were Waffle House, Little Caesar's Pizza, Taco Bell, McDonald's.  I had to drive 20 minutes away to get to a Cracker Barrel, and there were no little cafe's still open, or diners.  There were only a handful of restaurants in the first place, unlike Kokomo and frankly most cities, which has food places lining about every road in town.  Obviously not a super affluent area down there.  Unfortunately for me, though, Cracker Barrel doesn't have oatmeal. So I end up with cinnamon roll pie which is exactly what it sounds like.  A small cinnamon roll baked onto a pie crust, one small slice of it.  It was quite good, but it wasn't healthy in the least.  You know how rare it is that I want oatmeal over pastry?  And the one time I do want that, there isn't a place within 20 miles that has oatmeal except McDonald's and I wanted REAL oatmeal.  lol

D got back around 11:45, and we headed back to Kokomo.  Two hours, shot the RNAV 32 back into Kokomo, wasn't real low up here.

Bob was having his annual Thanksgiving party in his hangar, which means the taxiways and back half of the airport was shut down as everybody parked all over the place. So I had to park the 340 on the ramp, as we couldn't taxi back to our hangar, and walk all the way back.  I stayed in the maintenance hangar for awhile waiting for them to leave, and they finally did by 5:30 pm.  I then hiked back to the airplane, taxied it over, put it away, then hiked over to the grassy area all the way to the west end of the hangars where my car was parked, and got my car.  Secured everything, and finally got to leave.

Next up was Bob Evans to pick up my pumpkin pie I'd ordered. But AE had brought a home made one over too, so we're all definitely going to dig into that one first.  ;)  I went over to Culvers and got dinner, and then when I got home caught up on the paperwork.  Sent D the hobbs, updated my logbook, fired off receipts to the company, sent the billing in, updated my schedule.

Lastly here I'm making a couple of the gluten free things tonight.  I tore up the gluten free bread so it can dry out so I can make stuffing/dressing tomorrow.  I am in the midst of my crustless pumpkin pie, and it says I need brown sugar. I had a whole thing of brown sugar. Now I do not have brown sugar.  I tore apart the cabinet and nothing.  Ann had some but we got rid of it.  So Kaylee is driving here and I ask her to stop and pick some up because I need to make this tonight and let it set up overnight in the fridge.  She says sure, then texts me that we are out of luck, they are out of brown sugar.  She asks if any other sugar will do. I'm like...no...then she finds one small bag in the back of the shelf, the last bag. I said "GRAB IT" The rest of the pie is already mixed up and ready to go, I just need that!!  Saved by the last bag of brown sugar in the store the night before Thanksgiving...

One last thing.  I've decided I explain myself too much to some people. I like those people to know what I am thinking. So a lot of times if it's someone I care about, I explain, because it matters to me.  But I think I over-explain sometimes and I am going to make an effort to be done with that.  Why am I writing that down?  So I'll remember it.  I learn everything better if I think it, write it, and read it/say it.  Mostly airplane stuff, but hey.  ;)

I'm pooped.  Kaylee is here, my crustless pie is setting up in the fridge after being cooked, my gluten free bread is drying out on the counter, my turkey breast is thawed out and ready to cook tomorrow, and after my 5 am wake-up call, I am wiped out and ready for bed!
