I am admittedly not in a good mood. Haven’t been all day, though I’ve attempted to get past it and can’t. So I’m going to grump it out here, and when I go to bed tonight, hopefully I will be less Grump.
This was supposed to be a 1-2 day job. I knew it wouldn’t be one. I figured 2-3. I am now on Day 4. Every day he calls me and tells me “Tomorrow”. Do you know how ever-loving sick I am of being told “Tomorrow” for things? The entire Conquest thing in the FIRST place was “tomorrow”, “this weekend”, etc. I do have a lot of other things to be doing besides sitting on my ass here. I could go play tourist, but 1) I don’t feel great, 2) It’s hotter than hell here, 3) our phones are out of data because Kaylee left her music on data instead of wifi, and now I can’t get so much as directions back to my hotel if I go anywhere. I can’t find places to eat on the road, can’t get back home if I do pre-load them somewhere. I had to park outside a McDonald’s once to pick up their wifi to get back to the hotel after I spent some time wandering around to find food. I also just don’t feel like playing tourist. I want to go home. So that in another two days I can pick up Andy from TN, and then for the WEEK after that do C-45 rides in Ohio.
I’m out of melatonin so I went to Wal-Mart to pick up some more. One pair of jeans with butter on them, one pair of pants with the button torn off and a sewing kit without a needle to fix them, so I look for other pants. Can’t really find anything in my size, they’re too big, but I bought a pair too big anyway because I need pants to at least get around in. I’m out of clean laundry so I went down the hall to the laundromat on my floor, and it had a sign that it was out of service. So I took the elevator to the next floor down and it was out of service. So I call the front desk and ask which floors have working laundry and they say…None of them. They are replacing all the units so none of them work, but you can do laundry through them through an outside service, but it’ll take two days to get back. Well that’s freaking great. So I go back to my room where I have hotel wifi and I look up laundromats and pre-load the directions into my phone. I haven’t eaten lunch by 1 pm so I’m pleased to see a bakery right next door. I do my laundry, and walk next door and spend $10 on a Florida coke and baked good, get it back to the laundromat, and it’s so dry and stale I can’t even eat it. I don’t go back over and demand my $10 back, for multiple reasons, I just throw it away. Wait until my clothes are done and then try to hit the Chick Fil A across the street because that’s fast and easy. Except it took 15 minutes to get there because the Florida traffic is a nightmare even in the middle of the day. Once I got there, that’s when I was having trouble getting my way back home. Apparently I need to just stay on one main street and hope what I need is there.
I’m tired, my nose is running, I think the moist air down here makes my allergies go nuts, and I’ve really had enough of being here. If I have to spend one more night, if he tells me “tomorrow” one more time, I may actually lose it. Normally I’d be turning this into one big vacation, but this isn’t a vacation. Steve’s home alone with his mom and the stupid cat AND work, and I’m going to be gone all next week again. My students, my job, my warbird stuff, everything is sitting there in limbo, with everybody waiting on me…again.
So freaking annoying.
