Off

It was great to have a day off. I took a sleeping pill and it helped me conk out all night for once, and I woke up at 7:30 am all gloriously well rested for once.

It was a GORGEOUS day.  Because I had the day unexpectedly off, I was able to run the MBros 340 over to Ohio to get the brake fixed. I took Spencer and Justin H with me, let Spencer fly it left seat.  When we got back, I ran up BOB while we tried to find a vacuum problem (found the left vacuum pump is dead) and adjusted the fuel pressure on both engines.  The T-6 had to be pulled out for all that anyway, so I thought about taking it up to do my last hour in it to get to 2000, but I had to come home and feed Ann since Steve was flying, and I didn't feel like going back out.

My Dispatch magazine came in today, with the big ole picture of me and Morgan on the inside cover.  That made me smile, and I get two copies of the magazine, so I left one out at the airport for Morgan to pick up and have for herself.

So I was feeling pretty good, actually.  I'd had a really successful T-6 transition training time, the #3 guy at an airline complimented me as an instructor and said this was exactly what he was hoping it would be. It had been a beautiful day, I'd had fun with a couple 'kids' and let them get some flight time, I'd gotten to run up BOB and enjoy that noise.  I took my car through the car wash, and they said it was free today, and my car looks good and makes me smile.  I saw my photo in a magazine and that made me feel pretty good. And then I found the way to make me not feel good.  I needed something to wear to Kaylee's graduation and I really don't have anything. So I went to TJ Maxx and Kohls. And I tried on clothes.  And that is the single best way I know to make me feel bad about myself. I don't feel pretty or strong or smart or capable. I look at myself in the mirror wearing something that looked nice on the hanger and I feel like a silly looking floofy...punch line. Joke.  Why do I stick with normal clothes? Because while I may not be glamorous, I at least feel normal in them.  So that was a little sad end to an otherwise nice day!

Tomorrow is a trip to S. Carolina and back, but at least I don't leave until noon, so I don't have to get up early for it, and the weather looks nice too.  My new job will begin probably May 5th.  He said to basically block off May 5-15th. I'll be going to Florida to drop him off to bring the plane home, and then flying with people to get as many hours as possible in, and then doing an "initial checkout" for insurance, which is 3 days of ground and flying.  Then we'll be all ready to start taking actual business trips too.  So...here we go.

Cool, huh?

Melted pitot tube covers mounted on a wall. Ha.
