They were supposed to launch a rocket today, and we are RIGHT THERE. So I timed it to have a load of passengers when it was supposed to go off, and they scrubbed it. It was going to go again, and at 1 minute to go on the countdown I got out of my chair and went over and got my camera ready, and the scrubbed it. The third time I got up at 46 seconds, and they scrubbed it for the day. So we decided that I am the jinx and I’m not allowed to get up or look when it’s happening if they try again before we leave here. ;)
Gunfighter made it in and did several rides today. Most of the planes had some rides in the morning, and then by the afternoon, the traffic dried up and went away and we all sat the rest of the afternoon. But at leastI got four in today, and we needed that, that’s for sure. It was a little windy today, so that was good practice for me. I’d been bobbling my landings in BOB this week, until today. I greased on those last two. I think I was trying to rush the touchdown and getting impatient, because when I was slightly scared of landing it, I always rolled it on. Then I got less scared and my landings suffered. lol. So today was satisfying to get those greasers on again.
I ran into two women helicopter pilots (they say) who were there to pick up astronauts who are “splashing down” today from the space station. That’s kind of cool. These ladies looked like models though. Super tall, leggy, skinny, beautiful. I was like…wow. I stood in between them for a photo and felt like a short dumpy troll. :D But it’s fine. I’m not sure they’re actually helicopter pilots. One guy asked one of them how many hours she had and she said “This is my first time in this helicopter”. Hmm.
After we cleaned up, Nathan and I went to a place called Pier 220 on the water and had a great view and good food. It was a nice perk to end the day. Tomorrow I’m on my own in the morning, and then will probably finish up flying with Matt in the afternoon, especially since I am guessing we won’t have riders in the afternoon again. They didn’t even sell any seats in the 2nd B-24 flight of the day tomorrow, unfortunately. I’m glad to at least accomplish some things with him even if I’m not making money. But I’d much rather have the riders…
Talked to Steve and Kaylee and Roadie for an hour tonight. Nice to hear their voices. The humans anyway. It feels like I’ve already been gone two weeks, and it hasn’t even been one full one yet! Lawd have mercy…
