End of the Week

It is frigid here, just barely into the double digits, the kind of air that hurts your lungs and makes you cough to just breathe outside.  There was this beautiful sunset tonight.  Usually I see a sky like this, and
the first thing that crosses my mind is "I wish I was up flying" or "I need to go flying". Tonight I saw that sunset, walking from Half Moon back to my car, freezing and shaking, and that thought ran through my head, and then seconds later, the next thought was "Heck no." The thought of getting out an airplane and preflighting and firing up in these temps was a big fat no thank you.  It's beautiful, but it's beautiful from the inside of my warm car, or warm house.  I can't wait until it IS warm enough to be able to actually enjoy being outside again, but it's Feb. 3rd, so I'm not exactly holding my breath.  Except when I'm outside....

Lots of movement in things today. I have a key to the Citabria hangar, and whenever the temps get around to above freezing finally, I'll be glad to take it out for a run.  Ethan called, and the insurance company has quoted him a reasonable amount for the Conquest II he is planning on buying.  He put a quote out to his brother, and his brother is "very interested", and will likely dry lease the plane with me as the pilot, and I will get 1-2 trips a week, which will be good income.  So that is coming up quickly.  The new T-6 that will be based in Ft Wayne is supposed to arrive tomorrow. It's supposed to be windy though, so I don't know if Jim will be comfortable with that or not.  If so, he'll deliver it to FWA, and if it's reasonable I'll take the new owners up on their first flight in it while Jim heads back home.  If not, he'll delay delivery until a better weather day.  But it's happening very soon here.

My next week started out with nothing on it.  Now I have: Monday, the C-45 may be ready for a run-up and I have to get the 340 to Aurora in the morning.  Tuesday morning I have a trip to OSU with Ethan's guy Nick, and then Tuesday afternoon/evening I am taking Purdue's coach to Kentucky in the Cheyenne for an evening game and recruiting thing.  Wednesday and Thursday I'm supposed to fly with a guy from Texas on the C-45, and somewhere in here I have to get with Glenn to do C-45 ground stuff.  Friday afternoon/evening I'm back in the Cheyenne with the coach going to Atlanta.

Then the C-45 goes down to Florida, and I have a student to prep for a checkride. And a Citabria and T-6 to fly.  ;)  At least February is interesting for once...
