The trip here was long, took over 5 hours in the air. We stopped in Pueblo, Colorado at an FBO called “Flowers”, which is a cool indoor store type place we stopped at before in the 340 on the way out to Ethan’s place in Colorado. They have food in there for free, hot dogs, cookies, chips, ice cream, drinks, etc. and a bunch of stuff for sale. Their line guys didn’t know how to fuel us up and left the fueling mat on the top of the wing, but we were in and out of there in 30 minutes, so hey. Not bad. Beautiful area. High winds, 30 knots, gusty, high altitude (5000’ field elevation), but the Cheyenne doesn’t care. Even fully loaded with 7 people, full fuel and 7 bags, it took off out of there like nobody’s business.
It was bumpy, and the heater didn’t work a portion of the time, which made it a bit chilly (very much so at 24000’), but five hours later we landed at Henderson Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dodging around a storm cell, low level wind sheer, moderate turbulence, and 27 knot winds, but that’s just another day in paradise. ;)
When we got there, we got an Uber X that could take all of us and our stuff, and got to our hotel, the Bellagio. Here is where the surprise happened. Our room is an apartment, y’all. It’s a suite, it’s the mother suite I’ve ever stayed in. It has a doorbell. And a guest bathroom in the entrance way. A small kitchen, a counter with stools, a large dining room with a computer area across from it and 2 large windows by it, a living room with a stretch l-shaped couch facing a tv with the back to two other large windows. Then to the left and right of the room is a door which enters into a whole other level. One on each side. So you walk into a king sized bed normal looking hotel bedroom area, big window and TV, closet, etc. At the end of the room are two more doors. On the left door is a huge bathroom area with jacuzzi tub, make-up table area with lighting, closet with fluffy robes and slippers and such, big sink. Then a door inside THERE goes into the toilet and bidet area. So there’s a bathroom inside a bathroom on the door on the left. On the door on the Right, there’s a huge shower with steam jets, big tall and wide shower head, and another toilet and sink and closet, etc. Back in the living room, you go through the other door, and it’s the same set up on the other side of the suite. So if you’re counting, there are 5 toilets and 2 bidets in here and I have lost count of the rooms. We all have our own private bathroom area. We’re up on the 35th out of 36 floors in the hotel, facing the famous fountain. The view is spectacular. Day and night. During the day you’ve got a clear view of the mountains and the entirety of the city. At night, the fountain shows out the window, and the whole city strip of lights, of course, from on high. Very cool.
I called E, and he laughed and laughed, said he’d sprung for the suite as a surprise since it’s Kaylee’s birthday and we’re all here. He then took a stretch limo with us to the Wynn, where they have “The Buffet”, and we ate like kings. With crabs and steak and crepes and desserts and breads and sushi and every kind of food you can imagine. We hadn’t eaten all day, so we made that buffet suffer some hits.
Afterwards we met up with Glenn O and his wife and daughter. They were here celebrating his daughter’s 21st birthday. Kaylee turns 22 in a few days. It’s funny when a guy from Chicago and a gal from Indiana who are friends, randomly meet up in Vegas. They came up to our suite, and hung out and watched the fountain show and chatted until it was time for everyone to go to bed. We were at like 3 am our time, and he’d been sick, but it was good to see him.
So much amazing food and drink and sights and such today. It was fun.
