T-6ing

I did sleep pretty well, but woke up with the headache I get this time of the month apparently. I ended up having to take something for it, because today was T-6 training day. We started at 8:30, and he made my life easy. He hadn't flown a T-6 in a year, and his first flight back was excellent.  He's going to fly the T-6 out of Wisconsin, and their airport has a 100' and a 75' wide runway, so we went over to Marion to practice on the 100' runway first.  We're cruising along, and suddenly he yanks it over and down. I'm startled and ready to grab the thing, but he levels off. I say "You just trying to make sure I'm awake back here? Because I am now!"  He said no, he was trying to avoid a bird, but he thinks we probably hit it.  We go do our takeoffs and landings, he does great.  We land at Kokomo, and he says "See, we did hit a bird". But the bird guts, goo, blood, feathers, and meat, are on the gear door, the main strut, up in the gear well...the gear had to be down for that to happen. But the gear was up when we were cruising.  So we had to have hit another bird on a landing out there.  There was also blood on top of the wing, which wouldn't have happened if it had hit down on the gear.  So...two birds, one flight.  Two more and the T-6 will be an "Ace". The first bird I hit in there was a huge turkey buzzard who aimed for my windshield and was bigger than my windshield, and then dove into my left wing, hit it, and spiraled to the ground.  No damage to anything. Today left more of a mess. We're trying to figure out who has to clean that up.

We flew for almost 4 hours today, all went well. Gonna go up tomorrow with some stronger crosswinds and get another hour including checkride in. Then he'll be ready to go to WI and fly their airplane. He's good.  He's a Southwest Airline pilot, and a former A-10 military pilot.  Cool. :)

My schedule continues to fill.  So Saturday is Florida. Sun-Tues is Colorado. Now Wednesday is Iowa. Then Sunday is Florida, Tuesday is Cheyenne recurrency, Wednesday is Atlanta, Thursday & Friday are Wisconsin, a couple days off, then the next Tuesday & Wednesday are 340 recurrent training in TN, that brings me to the last few days of October. So there are a couple days in there to fill in still, but not a lot...

I've got pictures but they're not loading and I'm tired.  So...forget it, I'll get them tomorrow.  lol
