End of Stay

It’s about 9:30 pm Vegas time, which is 12:30 pm Kokomo time. We’re going to try to go to sleep early, get up early, and start wandering home. We’re stopping in Dallas first, so it’s going to be a long way home, about 5-6 hours instead of 3-4, but we’re dropping John off for something.

We went to the “High Roller” and went on it after sunset this time, so we could see all the city lights from 550’ up in the giant ferris wheel. Very pretty. I got a bunch of photos, of course. I love being up high, airplane, ferris wheel, any time I’m looking down from above, I’m good.  We ate dinner at Margaritaville first, and before that, Steve and I went to MGM Park and ate lunch at Eataly, which is an all-Italian underground city in the casino, where everything is written in Italian, they have 9 or 10 separate booths, street Italian food, desserts, meats and cheeses, wines, sandwiches, all of it. It’s pretty cool, but the problem is we ate too much. I’m still full, hours later, so much so that I just ate a small side salad at Margaritaville and I didn’t even want that much. I had gelato, a chicken sandwich, Steve had the cheese and meat and wine, and a prime rib sandwich, and it was all really good. A little hidden treasure of an area I’d never seen before.

Kaylee called, upset because a certain person had posted on Facebook about how it was the two year anniversary of her loss, and how nobody was accountable for the preventable and careless loss, (how’s that, exactly? You don’t let them be involved in airplanes even though that’s what they wanted to do when they grew up, so it’s your fault it happened? Is that the thought process here of blaming everyone?) and how they were going to be angry forever, etc. Kaylee was upset that we were being blamed for something we didn’t do, so I went ahead and told her SMA Support was getting sued now too, and that just made her mad more than anything, which helped. I told her to be upset for a bit and then move on and don’t let it control your happiness, or it’s giving someone else too much power over your own life. They’re lost, and hurt, and being talked into things by unscrupulous lawyers who have easily and quickly convinced them of who the bad guys are, even though there’s no logic to it. And so it goes.  And yes, I’ll be mad for a little while and mutter, and then I don’t spend much time thinking about it at all. I take my own advice.

For breakfast this morning I had a crepe downstairs and holy smokes that was good. It was a caramel one. Steve had an omelet, but that crepe, I am so glad they aren’t close to me, because I could eat one of those things every day.  Deeeelicious.  Steve and I walked around various areas, and we stayed in the hotel room for a bit too and worked on the computer, answered emails, and got ready to go back to reality.  Boo hiss. ;)

We’re hitting breakfast in the morning, and then heading to the airport, topping off, and heading to Dallas, dropping off John, on to Kokomo, and there we lose three hours. So it’ll be a good 8 pm or after before we make it back tomorrow. And we jump right into Friday.  Yee haw!
