Today was supposed to be flying the T-6 down to Noblesville for their pancake breakfast. Instead, when Steve went next door to take care of his mom for breakfast, she couldn't get up, said her back and side hurt. When he looked, she had bruising. After about 30 minutes he got it out of her that she'd fallen at some point. I went over and looked, and she couldn't get up to go to the bathroom by herself even. It looked like she had a couple of hurt ribs. We had no choice, so I called 911 and they brought an ambulance in and carted her to the hospital. An x-ray there determined she has broken four ribs. She's not on any pain meds, and she wasn't complaining except when they moved her, so they sent us home with her and told us to give her Tylenol. They said if she still had trouble they'd prescribe real pain meds but they don't want to over medicate her. So we took her home, and at that point she was able to move well enough to get out of the car. I've been back over there a couple of times, and she was up walking around slowly. It hurts her to sit down, stand up, use her ribs at all, of course. We put a bathroom thing in there and a walker for her to use, which she is ignoring. The doctor also said to have her breathe deeply because pneumonia is a real concern for someone who shallowly breathes for too long because their ribs hurt. He said it would take 6 weeks to heal at best.
So we get her home, and meet Kaylee for lunch, and then Kaylee says she wants me to go with her to the Urgent Care facility because of how she feels. So I do that. We go in, and she has an ear infection, infected fluid in her ears, and a likely sinus infection, on top of whatever else is going on. So she's on antibiotics and steroids for that. These two things took most of the day.
When I got back from that at 3, it was time to go back to Ann, every couple of hours, to give her Tylenol and food and check on her. I did that at 3, and then I fell asleep in my room, hard, and passed out for over two hours. I can't remember the last time I did that.
When I woke up it was time to do her dinner and meds. Now, this afternoon I've had my own problem. My eyes have fogged over in a weird way. I used to have that happen when I first put in contacts, and that's what this looks like, except I'm not WEARING contacts. It's just my eyes, like a white film that keeps creeping up. I slept in my contacts this afternoon because I was too tired to realize they were in, and I'm wondering if I messed them up temporarily here. Bothersome. But I didn't feel good today, I spent the whole day in the ER and the Urgent Care waiting room, I took a giant nap and just started feeling okay, and I've got a lot coming up, so a little...eh.
