Yesterday the temps dropped from 50 down to freezing by today, and I assume the barometric pressure had a rapid change as well. My head felt it, both yesterday and today, and I had really bad headaches from it. I hate these weather headaches, because I can't seem to do anything about it. Decongestants don't help, allergy pills don't help, Tylenol doesn't help, magnesium doesn't help, oxygen doesn't help, what can stop temp/baro pressure changes headaches?! Google didn't come up with anything that helped, just that this can cause them. Well, no kidding. So what can FIX that? *sigh*
I got the Wordle for today in two guesses. I used a different word than normal today, on a whim, and it had four of the five letters, all in the wrong spot, but still. One good guess and I had it. I was pleased--I finally got my word in two guesses. :) And I got an Absurdle in 7 today. I'll run a couple more later in the evening--it keeps me thinking about something.
So, Gina Carano was fired from Disney (who owns ABC) and their hit show "The Mandalorian" after she made a tweet comparing inhumane treatment and dehumanization to how the Nazis treated the Jews, which actually did happen, of course. Roseanne Barr was fired from ABC and canceled, never to be heard from again, after a racist tweet joke, which she posted, pulled, and apologized for. Now Whoopi Goldberg says live, repeatedly, on ABC, that the Holocaust wasn't about race, and then goes on a nighttime tv show to "apologize" but really doubles down and says it's not about race because it was white people against white people. How racist is THAT? Let's not worry about the Nazi regime calling themselves the Master Race. Or the fact those white people of the "master race" were wiping out any other race and ethnicity that they felt were inferior, animals, inhuman, not worthy of even existing. But yeah, Whoopie? She gets "two weeks off to think about it." If you're gonna fire Gina for even discussing actual Nazi behavior, and fire Roseann for being offensive, well, Whoopie is offensive too. "It's not about race. It ain't about race", repeatedly says a black woman who took the last name Goldberg and is completely dismissing the race factor in the Holocaust, you know, the main catalyst of the whole "take over the world and get rid of the bloodlines of the people not worthy" thing. Liberal Privilege and hypocrisy at its finest. So irritating. Either stop "canceling" people for stupid stuff (like that), or "cancel" people regardless of what side of the aisle they're on when they say stupid stuff (like that). Pick one. Jerks.
My 2nd Class Medical appointment was today. It was at 4, and they told me to arrive at 3:30. Well, it finally started snowing before then, so I decided to leave early. I know that I'm usually the last appointment of the day, so I figured if I went in early, maybe they could all go home early too, and I think it helped. I wasn't in there long, and I'm still healthy, so I have my shiny new medical in hand. When I walked out the door, my car was covered in a glop of white sticky wet snow. I couldn't even roll down the windows to clear them, because the snow stuck together in a sheet, and would just fall into the vehicle if you rolled down the window. lol The roads were mostly all right as long as you didn't drive stupid, but that is too much to ask. I wasn't bothered by the conditions at all, but I was bothered by other people. Within one 10 second time frame, I accelerated past a side street where a maroon van was sliding sideways, brakes locked up, towards my intersection. I swerved left and accelerated and got past there before they did, and as I was getting back in my own lane, a pick up truck swung around a corner ahead and fishtailed into my lane. It wasn't that slick out yet. People are always just dumb the first snow of the season, even in Indiana. So I was glad to be home, not because I was worried about losing control, but because after two misses, I didn't want someone else wiping me out. I'd also just washed my car, so I took the Jeep so my car will stay a little cleaner a little longer. ;)
The media has pushed this Winter Storm like it's the second coming. They canceled school before it even happened. They basically canceled school for what would have been a rainy day. It didn't even start snowing until it was about time for school to be out here. They were telling everyone to stay inside, and blowing it all up. You know how much snow we had on the ground here while it was mostly deserted out there and the world was canceled? Two inches. They shut down Kokomo for rain and 2". Now I'm not sure what we've got, an when the roads DO get bad, and the winds do whip up, and the snow does blow, then that's fine and a good time to stay in. But they basically lost the entire day to...nothing but a wrong...or late to arrive...forecast.
I stopped at Culvers after my medical, brought home some early dinner. That reminds me. At the medical, the lady had a hard time finding my pulse. She said it was very faint, and it was 54 bpm. She said "Man, you're relaxed!" I was deliberately slowing it down, because I can do that. Same with blood pressure. I make it a game. I shoulda been a sniper. ;)
No plans for tomorrow but watching the weather and seeing what it does.
