January

So Steve and I discussed on the way home from Breeze-Inn's dinner with the pilot group tonight how right about now is the start of the worst of handling winter, where you just try not to sink into the morass of grey and frigid.  It's just now starting, and by the end of February, gets really bad.  Like...going out to the car freezes your nose hairs and you shake for 15 minutes and the roads are bad and people are grumpy and sad and we all spread that around.

This morning when I woke up it was -4°F.  I waited until 2 pm to have John R take me and Spencer over to Ohio so I could pick up the C-340, until it got up to past 10°.  Yay.  ;)  We went over in his C-421, I had Spencer fly us to Frankfort so he could get another hour in the 340, and then John picked us up in the 421 and took us back to Kokomo.  About 2.5 hours total where I mostly sat there and watched everybody else fly, but at least I got up in the air.  I do too much of the sitting and watching other people fly thing, but that's the instructor's job.  That's why I want to do as much of my own flying as I can, to stay current and proficient for when *I* need it.  And because I want to, of course.

Then tonight Steve and I drove down to Kempton. Their pub doesn't have good heat on the dining room side, so we were all quite chilly in there tonight after the sun went down. But the food was good and so was the company. Ty is back, so it was good to see him again today.

And as of right now, I have nothing on my schedule for tomorrow.

This is a series of photos of coming in to land at Kokomo in the C-421. John landing, me picturing.
