This morning when we got up and ready, I took her back out there, and they were supposed to be open until 5 pm. We got there like 10:30 or something like that, got in, and she said there was only one provider, it takes about an hour per person, and people were checking in every 5 minutes. We got lucky--she told us it would be about an hour before we got in, and to wait in our car because of "what she's (Kaylee's) got going on." I failed to tell them she had two negative Covid tests in a row, so maybe they were worried about that, but it ended up for the best. We left and went and got gas in the car, I ran to Burger King and got some chicken nuggets and a big tea for lunch, did a couple small errands like that, and then when we got back to the office, we weren't sitting in our car for very long before they called her in. Better than sitting in there for an hour, right?
They ran a strep test, and it came back negative. End result, she has ulcers on her tonsils and they don't know why but "they aren't that uncommon but they do look pretty bad". She has amoxicillin for a sinus infection, a small dose of steroids to reduce the swelling in her throat, and something called "Mary's Magic Mouthwash", which is a compound to help with the throat ulcers. Kaylee says it really does help, better than anything else she's put back there, and she just wishes it lasted longer. It says to do 3-4 times a day and she wants to do more because otherwise it's so blasted painful to swallow anything.
We went from there to pick up lunch for her and Steve at Wendy's, then home. When we got here, we were both tired enough that we laid down on my chair and fell asleep together, like we used to when she was younger. When she woke up, she was going to take her new drugs, and the steroids said "3 tablets once a day for 3 days", then 2, etc. Well she took all 3 tablets at once, and I was like "Eek! That's usually supposed to be 1 pill at a time throughout the day!" She pointed out it didn't say every 8 hours, it said take 3 pills in a day. So I tried calling the doc office at 1:30...supposed to be open till 5...and they were closed. We think they got so backlogged that they had to shut down to clear out the people they already had checked in. So I called the pharmacist to question her, and she said most people take it 3 separate pills throughout the day, but that there's nothing wrong with taking them all at once too, but if you do, take it with food. So she did that.
Kaylee decided to play "Baby Sensory Videos" to see if Roadie the cat would like them. She'd seen on Tik Tok that lots of cats liked those videos, and wanted to give it a try. Well, once Roadie looked up at the TV and saw giant vegetables dancing across the screen, she stared at it for about two seconds, then ran. We laughed. We tried it again with fruit. She was freaked out, she hated it. So we put a video up of birds eating. She sat there and stared for 15 minutes, unblinking, and was completely fascinated. She even got down in front of the TV and stared up close for awhile. So we put another baby sensory video up--her ears went down, she jumped down, and she ran to the deck. Whatever it is about them that babies like, apparently this cat thinks is very, very wrong. It's funny to watch her react to the TV on these things.
Steve's cousin Jeff come over yesterday. He's the brother of the Mom of the girl who is suing us for the plane crash and the death of her two boys. He lives down in N. Carolina, and we used to have Thanksgiving with him before we had kids. He's in the process of being divorced from his wife Cindy, who has taken the house, kicked him out of it, and left him with very little. He ate some leftovers with us, hung out, talked.
This afternoon Steve's friends AE and Kenny came over to spend some time on the deck and hang out, since they didn't get a chance to do that Friday.
Kaylee ran to the store to get ingredients to make her gooey brownies, and she's currently doing homework assignments she has to accomplish within the next two weeks for classes. She'll go back to school tomorrow, while I'm gone. I'm flying with Nathan to pick up Tre, drop off Jamie, and come back, then going with Spencer and Ethan to Ohio to drop Ethan off to do his multi rating.
And so it goes.
I didn't take pictures of food, or even of us, really. Here are a few photos of the cat, and Kaylee and Grandma. The last one was Kaylee napping on me this afternoon. She'd probably be annoyed at me for taking that but I had to. Who knows, that may be the last time she'll do that.
Roadie watching birds eat on the big screen
These two staring at each other
Kaylee drowsy draped on the cat
Grandma watching Kaylee and Roadie nap
Tried to get a decent angle
My favorite. Kaylee and Grandma Facetiming with the Cherrys.
