Labor Day

I made an appointment online for 9 am this morning to get my first Covid shot. I got up, got things arranged, got over there at 8:50, and the sign said pharmacy opened at 9. So I waited until 9, but it still didn't open. So I asked the store manager, and he said "oh, they don't open until 10 today". I said I scheduled a 9 am appointment and he's like "oh, sorry".  *sigh*  Steve and I were set up to fly the T-6 from 10-11:30.  We moved out the PT, the 340 and the T-6, and he sat up front and did the start up, taxi, take off, some flying around.  I needed to practice some landings from the back seat.  It's one thing to save a landing, another to do it all yourself well. My first 3-point touched down all right but then got a little squirrely when I tried to slide my feet up on the brakes.  Second, wheel landing, went well.  Third 3-point went well.  Then I said I was done, and so was he.  .8 later, we put it all away and went to lunch.  I was tired after that.

When we were done with lunch, I went back to CVS to get my shot, and they didn't have me in the system even though I signed up online. I was irritated now, but they treated me as a "walk-in". The pharmacist said he had to "make up a new batch".  I was like...huh...what?  But I waited, and then he came over, I had to wear a mask in the store, which I thought was funny because I don't have to wear a mask otherwise in the store, but since they know you're not vaccinated, they make you.  He went to jab me and saw a bruise on my arm and said he didn't do that. I said no, I regularly find odd bruises. He looked at me funny...I didn't mean I had leukemia, or was abused, I'm just clumsy.

I drove to Wabash Airport after that and went up with Morgan in the Champ for 1.2.  No problems there, she did well, although hand propping is not her favorite thing.  lol

On the way home, my stomach and right kidney started hurting really bad. I can't figure out what it is, but my stomach is killing me and my back/kidney aches. I can't imagine that has anything to do with the shot, something I ate maybe?  I dunno. Hopefully after I go to bed and get some sleep it'll feel better in the morning.

I've still got a lot to do with T-6 stuff. Scott T. needs more time in the T-6 before being checked out by the WI wing. I'm going up to check out Vanessa in her T-6 up in WI, and do Vic's back seat checkout in his up there. I have to do my own backseat checkout, and I have to do a BOB checkout with Doug. I have a guy who wants an aerobatic ride, too, that I need to set up.  I have to give a couple hours in the T-6 to get a guy used to heavier tailwheels. Then I have one, possibly two guys to check out in BOB.  But at least the BT-13 stuff is done, I'm slowly accomplishing this stuff.  It's all a little stressful, but pretty rewarding when it's done.  My check pilot in the BT sent an email to a few of us and said "Great to fly with you Laura. You fly a good airplane."  (By which you probably figured he didn't mean the airplane is good.)  He flies the two airworthy B-29s and a bunch of other stuff, T-6s, etc., so I appreciated that compliment. Most of this is volunteer, which is keeping me busier than my real job, and losing more sleep than my real job, and more stressful than my real job, but the potential is there for...who knows what.
