Weekend Update

Saturday didn't end up working out for the L-2 flying, but it cleared off enough for my last night flight with this fellow.  I know he's getting close to a checkride so normally I try to help them with it, fine tune things. But he's sloppy, and his attitude isn't the best about it, so I decided he's not my problem other than the night flight I am assigned to do with him.  Jerry will prep him for his checkride, and ISU will knock him down on the sloppy, poor procedures, poor checklist usage, stuff pretty quickly.  It was an overcast night, and dark, and rainy, but it's still pretty flying down by the Indy area, and it was a nice, peaceful flight.

So this morning I went out to Kokomo to fly with Job in his dad's L-2.  He'd been flying the Cub a lot, so it was just a transition to a different feel/sight picture/handling.  I hadn't been in an L-2 in several years, so it was nice to be back in one.  We did steep turns, power off stalls, turning stalls, power on stalls, falling leaf stalls. One of the bigger differences is that the L-2 is more aggressive on stalling than the Cub, and his dad wanted me to make sure he knew and experienced that.  Then we did 3-point landings until he got those close to down, then did wheel landings.  He needs to smooth them out but he's safe, so I sent him on his way for his first solo in it to get it back home.  I kind of enjoyed it, actually.  I cut my arm on something, I have a big chunk out of my arm, and I don't even know from what.

I stopped at Steak-n-Shake and brought everyone home some lunch, and go from there.

Kaylee came home for a few days yesterday.  Her last camp week is over, and she doesn't have to be back until Thursday, which is the day I leave for Dubuque, so she's home, sleeping, doing laundry, watching TV (something she couldn't do there), and talking, and cuddling up a little bit, and just glad to be home. Each time she runs into abused kids or problem families, she always comes back so appreciative of us.  lol  :)
