It was a busy day, but a good one, and it may have knocked me out of my funk finally.  I've been tired, grumpy, unmotivated, and mopey for days, for no darned good reason at all. It felt good to feel good again today!

Kaylee is off on a weekend adventure with her friend, and sent the below picture, where she looks tired but good.  She sent me that and I sent her the one of me because that's where I was right then when she texted me.  Hers is cuter.  :D

I took the 340 up to 10,000' to test the pressurization system and see if it glitched (it did) on the way down to Indy Metro to fly the PT-26 with Mark VZ.  We flew for an hour and a half in the PT, did the air work, steep turns, slow flight, power off and power on stalls, and then a falling leaf stall to show the one time this plane isn't docile.  I held the stick back and used the rudder to keep up the wing, but then it broke really hard the other way (usually you get about three wing drops before it starts to go over), and we basically went into a spin entry. Which was sort of entertaining, although intentional spins are prohibited in there.  It wasn't intentional though, so that's okay.  ;)  We went over to Sheridan and did our first takeoffs and landings on the grass over there. Long, thick grass, it took forever to get off the ground and we stopped in no time flat.  lol

We had to land after that so that I could get back in the 340 and get to Kokomo and take the T-6 up with Cameron in the back seat and fly over the Haynes Festival 4th of July parade in Kokomo.  I don't know how it went yet but hopefully okay.  Cameron enjoyed himself. He's the survivor of the accident at Glenndale.  We were up, and I asked if he wanted to do anything whoopty in the plane, or just leave it like this.  He wanted to, so I did some steep turns, wing-overs, asked how he was doing, he liked it, so I did a couple rolls too.  He laughed out loud, loved going upside down.

Time to land from that so I could scarf down a Wendy's sandwich Steve had gotten for me, then get back in the 340, fly it back to Metro, fly with Mark one more time for another 1.6.  We did pattern work this time.  3-point landings, wheel landings, short field takeoff, engine out landing, no flap landing, go-arounds.  We're going to meet up Monday and finish off a little on consistency in the flare and maybe try to find a crosswind, and then I'll sign him off.  It was a fun day though.

Took the 340 back to Kokomo for my 7th flight leg of the day, and Steve, AE and I went over to Bad Dad's to have pizza and beer.  Well, they had beer, I had pizza and ice cream.  And we were all happy.  ;)

One sort of funny thing. Since the T-6 has been up this season, my sight picture has been off in it.  I'm sitting lower in the seat than I used to.  Normally it doesn't matter much where you sit in a seat, but I'll tell you what, after 13 years and hundreds of hours in this airplane, I am used to the sight picture I had.  So when it changed, it messed me up. I'd go to do a 3-point, and drop it in because the runway wasn't where I expected it to be.  I'd go to do a wheel landing, and again, the runway wasn't where it was supposed to be, and I'd end up dribbling it on, dropping it on, eating up a bunch of runway with power trying to find the runway, or even bouncing and having to turn it into a three point.  After that first crappy-ish landing, I'd be able to dial in the 'new' sight picture and do all right. But that first one of the day was always a little sad.  I said something to the guys. Jon and Spencer said "The seat's all the way up".  Then we looked at the parachutes. They looked fine.  I could tell they thought I was wrong.  But I wasn't wrong. I KNOW THAT AIRPLANE and I know my sight picture.  So today with Cameron, I go to do a wheel landing, don't find the runway, bounce, turn it into a three point, and come back and complain about it.  Nathan and Steve go over there, only to find something was binding up and the seat was indeed not all the way up, it was down, but you have to force it into that last position, unlike before, which is why none of the rest of us found that.  I sat in the seat, looked out, and said "THAT'S IT!!!"  I was so excited to see my sight picture again where it's supposed to be.  It's a small thing, but it was actually bugging me about the upcoming Oshkosh stuff too, because I don't need to dribble landings there.  It bothered me giving rides in Indy the other week, but after that first one I worked it out and did okay. I'm just happy to know it's back where it belongs and I can get my mojo back.  ;)
