Yesterday while her friends were here, she wanted to check her blood sugar levels. She said that sometimes when/after she works out, she'll get dizzy or almost pass out, but if she drinks orange juice, she's okay. So she was worried about her blood sugar. But at the same time she has this needle phobia. I had a blood sugar testing kit, and she insisted that she had to poke her thumb herself. But she was so freaked out, she was jumping up and down in the kitchen and yelling. Finally she hits the button and stabs herself, immediately screams and comes barreling into the living room, throws herself on the floor, and sticker her thumb up at me for me to put the sample on the test strip. She had jerked away, so she didn't get a good "stick", and I had to milk her thumb to get enough blood for the sample. We're done, and she just stays on the floor and cries, hard. She stayed down there for a long time, crying, said she wanted a hug from her mommy, so I got on the floor with her and held her. We stayed on the floor for a good half hour, eventually I got her to sit up and sit on my lap on the floor. It totally traumatized her to stick her thumb. Her friends were laughing until they saw she was really crying, then they felt bad. By the way, her blood sugar number was just fine. They'd just eaten, which means it should be below 180, and she was at 112. So, answered that question, but boy, it was hard for her.
I mostly wanted a day to myself today, but it didn't much happen. I had a couple hours. But then a guy stopped in in a T-6, ferrying it to Delaware, and he stayed the night here, and Steve and I went out to dinner with him. Nice guy. Doug Anderson I think his name was, and he'll be flying a Mustang too...was supposed to get checked out until Covid came along. I do wish I could do that.
Tomorrow I go to Pennsylvania to test fly the Cheyenne with the mechanic, and if all goes well, I fly it home. If it doesn't go well, I get a ride back in the RG to go back another day. Hopefully it goes well. :)
