Back to Mondays

I've got about 40 minutes before I need to go to bed here, because I have to get up at 5:30 am tomorrow for a last-minute flight to Alabama.  I'm glad for that, minus the 5:30 am part.  The weather is a factor, as always.  It was zero degrees last night, it'll be all the way up to like 13° tomorrow morning, yay, and the taxiways, etc. are very icy.  The clouds will be a little icy tomorrow though hopefully it'll be too cold to give me too much "juice" up there.  And down in Alabama, it's low IFR and rain.  It's also at the end of my fuel range, so I have monitor that closely and pick an alternate I can still reach on my reserves, or a fuel stop ahead of time if it's too bad.  The airport I'm going into has an approach that only goes down to 400' and 1 mile, and the forecast has it maybe going down to 300' and 3/4 mile.  So...I'll give it a shot, and if I can't get in, I'll go to a nearby place that has an ILS down to 200' and 1/2.  If it's lower than that, I'll just have to go back up farther north, but I'll need to know that ahead of time--fuel.  So, I'll have to see.  If I get lucky it's just at or above 400' by the time I get there.  :)  The nicest things are, 1) paycheck, 2) get to go somewhere and do something, 3) It's just me taking a guy down and waiting on him, so I get to fly left seat, 4), I should be able to get some decent seafood while I'm there, and 5) it's going to be 67° down there tomorrow.  I. Am. In.

Then I've got a trip to St. Louis next week, which is also good.

I got a message from the folks at Warbird Digest magazine.  They're going to do an article on the acquisition and restoration of the C-45, and would like me to write an article about my background, experiences in getting checked out, and flying the plane.   He said "Hi Laura...we are going to start putting together an article on the C-45 for Warbird Digest using the images Greg got at Terre Haute. I have noticed from your various posts on FB that you are a gifted writer. We were wondering if you wouldn't mind putting something together for us on getting checked out in and flying the Beech. Is that something you would be interested in doing?  You can make the text as long as you like, and perhaps include a blurb on your flying background (T-6 hours, total flying hours, what got you into aviation, those who have inspired you along the way...yadda-yadda)."  So, that's kind of cool.  :)  I'm going to give it a whirl and see how it goes.  May be my first published magazine article.

Well, I've got to go to bed.  Early start tomorrow for probably earning the paycheck!
