Cold and Bright

This blog is your Kokomo weather report for the day.  It supposedly got up to 40 something, but it was really cold most of the day!  Finally the sun broke out after lunch and that helped, but that morning was CHIPPY.

This was a busy flying day for me.  I didn't sleep well last night for whatever reason, and was up at 7 something for a flight.  I started off in the Legend Cub with the guy.  We went up and flew for a few minutes to get back in the groove, then did three normal takeoffs and landings, then went on and did three crosswind takeoffs and landings with a direct crosswind around 9-10 knots.  Good practice for the day.  It was SO cold in there when you'd pull the power back and the heat escaped.  I came home and went to lunch with Steve, Nathan, Kevin, Dale, and Ty.  From there it was back out to Kokomo, and Ana and I went up in the Champ.  I did three takeoffs and landings with her, and then I got out and she soloed for the second time, this time on concrete.  When she was done, we put that away, and there were four guys standing at our hangar.  They were looking at the lights in our hangar, as they were there to replace the regular lights in most of the hangars with LED lights.  As two girls put the plane away, they were fascinated.  lol  Kaylee was ready to go then, so she and I went back up in the Legend Cub, and she flew from the back.  The rudders are farther away in that one, and she had trouble reaching full travel on the rudders from the back.  She taxied, took off, flew us around a bit, and wanted me to teach her how to do wingovers.  So I did.  You know, it's an approved maneuver, right?!  We flew over her friend's house, and then came in for a couple takeoffs and landings.  Because she didn't have full travel, I only had her do one landing, and I did one.  She didn't do badly though.  Fortunately didn't NEED full rudder on landing.  :)  When she was done, my next guy was waiting, this time in a 172 for a cross country to Alexandria.  This is the first airplane I've flown all day with a decent heater.  He opens his air vent because he's hot blooded.  I didn't even have the heater ON.  So I finished the day like I started it--mostly freezing.  ;)  I started around 9 am, finished around 5:30 pm, just after the sun set.  Good day for it, decent winds, sun the last half of the day, able to get some stuff done.
