The temps are dropping down into the mid 40s tonight. We haven't had a working heater in the house since early Spring, haven't needed it, but the season is rapidly approaching where having heat will be...helpful. So we'll have to get on getting that replaced soon. Right now we have a unit in the bedroom that will heat you out of the room if you turn it up, so that part is fine. lol
On the "Presidential" Debate. I didn't watch, can't watch anything where 2-3 people all bellow and yell all over each other all at the same time. But I did follow a few folks on Facebook who gave a running commentary, both sides of the aisle, and THAT was funny. Their sarcasm and little points were well worth my time, providing entertainment and information at the same time. But in all seriousness, that "debate" should horrify people. It was like the WWF, only less classy. This country has become a Jerry Springer, Housewives of..., Love Island, country. That's what people want. Hysteria, drama, screaming, total lack of logic, total lack of class, or decorum, or respect, or composure, or grace, or manners, or honesty for God's sake. We're doomed. We are SO doomed.
I got one flight in this morning, and the winds were already at 26 knots by 9 am. We got a cross country in, her first. She worked at the FBO at Wabash for quite awhile and they all know and like her up there. So we went there. When she called in on the radio, a guy came on and said "HEY, is this M&M??" She said "Yep!" Coming in to land, with a 60 degree gusting crosswind up to 26 knots, on a runway half the width of Kokomo and surrounded by trees on one end (bad currents), she was fighting it, but she's just barely past solo and hadn't had winds like that before. Her buddy was watching, so I made sure she had a nice landing by helping in the last few feet. He came on the radio and said "Wow, great job!" She looked at me and I said "Just key the mic and say 'thank you'. ;)" So she did. Might as well let him be impressed, right?! Everybody else was in the Champ today, and with 30+ knot winds, that wasn't happening. So instead I deposited a check that came in for SMA Support, went to the insurance company and got insurance for our new to us Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, went to the BMV and got plates for it, swapped out cars with Steve, did some paperwork.
Tonight Steve, Kaylee, Ann and I went to Ivanhoes for ice cream for his birthday. They have an *amazing* selection of "shakes" and sundaes, all delicious flavors and combos. If that was in town here, I'd be 20 pounds heavier in a month flat. No question. I had a mocha almond fudge "shake" that you had to eat with a spoon, and it was heavenly. Ivanhoes is like 3 hours round trip away, but it worked out as we had to deliver Kaylee's car to her and swap back to get my Buick back, in Marion, then the place was like 30 minutes from there. Anyway, it was good, and we all enjoyed it.
Kaylee looks good, seems busy but relatively happy. She's trying to catch up on homework, had a two page paper to write tonight when we got done. She says the choir just may not be worth the time. She said they don't get to know each other, they're all six feet apart, there are no breaks, they just go and practice songs, no "community" or friendliness or anything. Nothing like Mrs. E did with the choir and the kids, of course. It's easier with a smaller group of people, but the choir here hasn't even tried to be...friendly. They just practice the whole time, no breaks, and leave. Six feet apart. And they don't dance at all, which she knew ahead of time, but still misses a lot. She doesn't enjoy her politics class, but she said her professor in it today made her laugh, because he said he watched the debate, and he said "This is the first Presidential debate in all my time as a professor that I ever hoped my class DIDN'T watch. That was a travesty." She had another professor in the social work department say that she felt the room was in low spirits, so she let everybody go early, with the requirement that they do something for themselves and something for someone else. So Kaylee made brownies for herself, then gave a bunch of them away for someone else, and fulfilled the requirements. :) She gave us two to bring home too.
It's only 11 pm but I'm pretty sleepy. I think it's time to hit it...
