August blows out, September blows in, and we'll see what fresh hell this month brings.
My toe is a funny color and I limp a lot, but it's not black, so there's blood flow, there's no grinding, so it's not badly broken, it's swollen but not grotesquely so, and I can put some pressure on it without passing out, so hey. If it's broken it's probably just a hairline. Doesn't feel great, but I won't die.
I'm doing the laundry I usually do on Sunday, today, because I worked Sunday, and I only partly worked today. Weather. I'm on Day 156 of my Spanish lessons, and I'm slowly getting better at various parts of it. I got most of my walking in today, but my toe hurts to walk on. I'll try to finish it up a bit later. Still hovering at this same weight. Which is fine. I went up a couple, I went back down a couple, I'm keeping it steady, without feeling like I'm deprived, unable to celebrate for a few days with too much food now and then, or whatever. It's usually easier to work on during the winter months, so maybe I'll be able to focus more and knock off another 10 pounds over the winter. That would be nice.
Our Zoom meeting with the FAA went fine today. He did a visual inspection, had us show him all the parts of the T-6, move some stuff, look it over. He asked us questions, talked maintenance on a few things, gave us a couple pieces of advice for the next inspector who comes around (use a clear folder for the Airworthiness instead of a blue one so it's "visible" no matter what), etc. It went fine.
We are taking the T-6 down for maintenance, a starter and a cylinder. Hopefully it's up by the BBQ Bash.
I hit a wall today I guess. I'm on a group that's Moms of kids Kaylee's age. It's been together since everyone was pregnant all at the same time. I came in when Kaylee was like 6 months old. So we've all watched each other's kids grow up, been through all the phases, and it's been a support group for 20 years. They've helped each other from potty training to the death of a child to cheating and divorce to gender changes to horrific accidents to everything you can imagine in life. Well, this last year, politics has crept in. It's been all of the Democratic ladies who have started deciding that they have the right to bring politics into the group, and not just bring it in, but stampede through with it. They're the only ones allowed to have an opinion, and if anyone else tries to counteract it, they are shouted down immediately, angrily, illogically, and emotionally. You know, just like real life outside the computer too. Scream loud enough, create enough chaos, throw enough temper tantrums, and the nice, quiet, respectful people out there will probably just quietly leave it alone, and you'll think you're the majority, in your echo chamber. You know, stuff like how the riots are all justified, it's fine because people have insurance, they're all trump's fault now that they're admitting they actually are happening now that the polls are showing people haven't bought their line about how they are mostly peaceful and just in a few areas, you know, that kind of crap. Today I had enough, and I said something back. A lady tried to shout me down, and this time I just sat there and fired back every single time. I told her that for every time she posted something left wing, I was going to post an opposing story, headline, video, action. Every. Single. Time. (I'll have to go follow some news group to do it, because I currently don't, but I'm willing to now.) I said we all know where this will go, and it won't be good. But that she and three of her buddies don't have the right to rule the roost. A bunch of conservative ladies just left the group, because they didn't feel safe posting there any more for help, because they tried to talk about their police officer husbands and were shouted down, because the hysterical woke 'moms' have been downright vicious. So I laid it out. Told them that I disagreed with their assessment (on what they posted this time as 'fact' that is not in fact, fact) and that I didn't feel that this was the place for it. They said that they didn't accept our "privilege" on not talking about politics on that page, that we needed to talk about it everywhere. I said that I believe that there should be some places where if people want to be able to get together and not feel attacked for their political beliefs, they should be able to do that, and that a group for women who have known each other for 20 years should be able to be one of those places. That I believe that it's seemingly okay for people of the left-leaning political fields to say whatever they want as angrily as they want, and everyone else just shuts up or leaves, because THEY don't want to disrupt the nicety of the particular group, while the more 'progressive' people seem to have no problem disrupting the nicety of the particular group. I don't think that's very fair. And I'm not leaving, because I don't care if they disagree with me. Bottom line, I don't want angst and anger and divisiveness on that page, or on my own wall. If I want to dive into debates and fighting, there are places to go do to that. I don't believe that is the place. But if that's what we're going to do now, then I'm not going to just have one side get to say what they want while everyone else shuts up out of politeness. I said "Do you think possibly, maybe, we could not do that?" It's been dead quiet on the board, though I'm expecting the other angry leftists to chime in soon. Instead, I've had multiple women private message me and say thank you. They all said the same thing, separately. They feel exactly the same way, they feel threatened, they feel unsupported and uncared for, they feel tired of the divisiveness, they don't want it on the board, they never say anything because they don't want to rock the boat, and are trying to be polite and considerate even though the other side is not being either polite or considerate of them. I've gotten a lot of thank yous. I'm just sitting here waiting for the angriest of the ladies to start in. I'm done. I'm not going to be quiet any more about some of this bullcrap. Not if someone is going to keep cramming it down my throat and expect me to take it. I'm all full up on it, that's IT. My "give-a-crapper" just broke. When I'm hoping somebody goes ahead and pushes me, you know I've seriously reached my limit. I don't care at this point if I no longer spoke to half the women I've known for the last 20 years. Obviously it's more important for them to be social justice warriors shouting into the void than friends. Fine by me.
On that note, I have an 8:30 am flight that I'm half hoping gets fogged out, because that's too early and I'm tired and grumpy. ;)
