Weekend

Saturday I had a couple more flights.  Just in that three hours I could feel the oppressive heat, and I was done at the end of it.  I had forgotten the night before to mention that after I landed the T-6, I had another flight lesson for an hour and a half.  I called that one off at the end, around 8 pm, because my system had enough.  I was feeling lethargic, overheated, even drinking water like crazy.  So I called an end to it earlier than he was ready to quit, later than I was ready to quit.  Saturday I don't think I'd fully recuperated yet, and after just two flights I was feeling the effects again.  It doesn't help that when I checked today the humidity was at 77%.  Heat index triple digits. Outside in the 'fresh' air.  Ick.

This morning I woke up with one of those headaches that you can fend off but bothers me because usually the next day I wake up with one I can't fend off.  And tomorrow I have my C-45 checkride, and I don't need my brain to be mushy and sluggish.  So wish me luck.  At least it probably won't be until afternoon, when it's good and hot, but not first thing in the morning, when I have trouble being...alert.   Of course first thing in the morning we're flying to Noblesville for breakfast, so hopefully I'm alert enough for THAT and not too worn out for the rest of the day.  ;)

I took a Champ down to Westfield today.  Winds were gusting to 20, so my chase pilot didn't want to take the other Champ, he took a 172 instead, which ended up being wise because the weather was moving in fast and we needed to get home.  A line of storms blew through not too long after that.

Crossing over the soccer fields full of children all looking up at me, I decided that 1) it would be a bad time to have to land in the field because boy would the news eat that alive, and 2) this is a little like baby Oshkosh with everyone staring at you as you come in to land, but less judgement.

A series of photos of three radial engines in one hangar. Well, four engines, three airplanes.

Buncha kids playing lacrosse-this is a fraction of the fields, too.  Huge facility.
