JP flew first and I rode in the back, while Jordan was in the right seat. When JP had his first round done, he crawled in the back and I crawled up front left. I took off, flew around for a minute, then did three full stop takeoffs and landings with a crosswind. That went fine so we came in for lunch. Topped back off, and then I went up first this time and flew from the right seat. Did steep turns, slow flight, power off stall and recovery, full engine failure to feather/shut down, restart, and then three or four crosswind takeoffs and landings. Today went really well. I felt pretty good in the plane, even from the right seat. I stayed pretty well in standards, made nice landings even with the crosswind, and hopefully I'll repeat a good performance this coming Sunday/Monday for the check flight(s). It's supposed to be terribly hot and we have to wear flight suits, so that stinks, sort of literally, but I look forward to having this done. But that check flight will count towards my T-6 currency for the CAF too, so that's good. :)
Something sort of exciting. Terre Haute is having a shin-dig next weekend, and they want me to bring down the T-6 and maybe the Twin Beech both. And they're going to have 4 T-6s there, and a couple of IPs, and a check pilot. And the possibility exists that just maybe I can get my FAST card. I told them I sort of hate to get my hopes up on it after all this time. If it can happen...that would be wonderful. I could get a Twin Beech checkout and a FAST card in the same week. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy. I'll be disappointed now if it doesn't happen, but they also had a Plan B. If this didn't work out, they wanted to go out to California to get their LEAD cards, and I could go out with them and do my wing card at the same time. So either way, just *maybe* this will actually happen. Bad timing financially after winter and then COVID. But I don't think I can let the opportunity pass if it comes to be, not after all this time.
So that's my update for the day. I have some studying to do by Sunday. Maybe tomorrow's weather will be icky and I'll have a chance to do that...
