Drain Bamage

My plan last night didn't work.  I stayed up until 11:30, and promptly woke up this morning sometime before 5 am.  It was 4:50 am when I finally gave up and looked at my phone.  Eye yi yi.  Then I did the worst thing and fell back asleep at some point so that I had less than an hour sleep before my alarm went off.  Good thing it was louder than normal, because I was in DEEP sleep.  I just remembered I have a FitBit that tracks that.  It says I was awake from 4-6 am.  My alarm went off at 7.  And it registers me in deep sleep right before I wake up at 7.  So yeah.  I was thrilled.  4.5 hours of sleep running on full-out busy days when it's creeping up on 90 degrees is catching up to me.  I'm not done yet either.  Tomorrow I go to Texas and back, then maybe have a student afterwards.  Saturday is the CAF Twin Beech groundschool, six hours of it, followed by me flying with Jordan some more, followed by a student.  Sunday at SEVEN IN THE MORNING is a student I had to bump off of Saturday because I was busy Saturday and he's already been bumped and he comes from Michigan.  So I'll start Sunday morning by getting up at 5:30 a.m.   I don't really want it to be bad weather, because this has been great for getting stuff done, but I COULD use a day off soon.  ;)

My first flight was at 8:30, and I was so tired.  But it was in the Champ, with a new person learning flying at all, so no chance to be sleepy there.  :)  I left there, had lunch with Steve, hit the post office, and was back out at the airport at 1:30 for a lesson with the deaf lady, this time in the RG.  She wanted to do a 1-hour checkout so she could take the plane to Michigan to see her dad on Father's Day.  Well, no pressure there.  But she wasn't quite ready to take the plane solo, not by our standards, so I had to turn her down on the trip and the checkout, even though we flew for almost two hours.  Right after that I had someone who I'd hoped to solo today.  It didn't go well for most of the evening. He was so freaked out he couldn't stop making mistakes, couldn't pay attention to where everybody else was in the pattern, couldn't focus or get consistent.  We went for like an hour and a half with nothing dialing in.  The actual touchdowns were all okay, but the pattern and approach, yikes.  He said "This isn't going as planned".  I told him it still could, but he's got to relax, get out of his own head, listen to the radio enough to know where people are, and just fly the plane the way he knows how.  He then did three good ones in a row, so after 1.8 hours, I got out and he did two solo takeoffs and landings.  I'm hoping after this it builds enough confidence that he gets out of his own way and rapidly progresses.  Consistently.  And safely.  :)

I didn't get home till about 9 pm.  Another long but good day.

I'm taking a fellow with me to Texas tomorrow.  It's a long flight to be in a small space with someone for that long, and I don't like making small talk for 5+ hours.  But I felt like the invite needed to be made after for once D couldn't go, and unfortunately neither could Nathan.  So I had an empty seat for once.  Gotta take advantage of it.

Kaylee is spending the night at Meredith's house.  Steve is working on stuff on the computer.  The cats are weird.  That's all of us in this house.

Well, I'm going to melatonin up tonight and see if I can sleep all the way through to a respectable 8 am tomorrow.  I don't leave until 1:20 pm, so I don't have to get up.  So, brain, STAY DOWN this time.
