It's of course Star Wars Day. I'm still just glad it's May and nice out.
We had a Microsoft Teams virtual meeting today to go over criteria to pick out two scholarship awardees this year. We have a lot of scholarship money to go out this year from two different sources, so that's great! There is always someone who can use the help to get their certificate. It's great to have the opportunity to help someone achieve their dreams even if finances are tight.
I got my Spanish in and my walking, and the house picked up, and then had one flight this afternoon in the 172. It was good to be up doing it. It's funny how you can even miss doing pattern work when it's been too long. ;)
We've seen a few people we haven't seen in a couple of months now, and while I hear a lot of people complaining about gaining the COVID 19, I've known more people who have lost it than gained it. That's kind of nice, actually.
I like having "Facebook Purity", a program I run on Facebook that gives me some control over it, such as removing and eliminating ads, keeping my timeline on most recent instead of choosing for me what it's going to decide is 'most important', formatting it how I want, that kind of stuff. It also alerts me as soon as someone deactivates their account, or unfriends me. So tonight I got notified that a guy unfriended me. I think it's sort of funny, but it's also sort of confusing. He's a "liberal leaning" individual, but I don't engage politics on line, so I can't think of anything I've posted that should have made him say "I'm knocking her off my friends list!" The only remotely questionable thing I said anytime recently was that I wasn't sorry Indiana was opening up. But He's also friends with Doug Roz. and Jordan Brown, who are two very conservative, very in your face about it people who post all the time, Jordan's flight school didn't even shut down during all this, and he didn't unfriend either of them. Of course they are much more powerful people in the warbird industry than I. But he's a local in Terre Haute, works on airshows and such, and does a lot at Oshkosh in the Warbird area. So I had to laugh and wonder what on earth I did to trigger him. Not that I care too much, of course; just call it curiosity into the human brain. ;)
Kaylee is making something she called "baked oats" with a mushy banana in it. She also made chia seed pudding. It's good for you, and the taste wasn't bad, but I picked little chia seeds out of my teeth for 10 minutes after a bite. Lol She still enjoys looking up recipes and trying them out, but she's not good at saving off the ones she ends up liking. The power of the internet. Remember the days when you had a container with recipe cards in it, or a cookbook, and that was it? Now every recipe in the world is at your fingertips any time. Kind of crazy.
I repainted my finger nails during our virtual meeting today. Deep red. How's that for productive?
Indiana started opening up today. The governor's briefing today, I have to say, I think I like him. I know this is bad, but I don't even know his political leanings, but I've appreciated getting to know him better during these daily briefings. Today he got called out for not wearing a mask in a restaurant, and he owned it and said they were right, he screwed up, it was all on him. Another politician in Indiana who admitted to a mistake and didn't try to bluster, bluff, negate, or get defensive about it. He answers even tough questions aimed at him with a little humor, and forthrightness, and calm. I might have said this already, but listening to Trump on his briefings gives me anxiety. Whether you liked his policies or not, his public briefings, eye yi yi. I don't need him to be polished and perfect, but he comes across so petulant and meandering and defensive once the reporters start in that it's hard to listen to sometimes. Reporters are jerks to everyone, but they sure get him to lash out every time, and it makes me cringe. Meanwhile Holcomb just deflects with humor and keeps it light. Anyway. Here's a graphic on us opening up, but it's not quite right. May 11th is restaurants, not May 4th. I think. Anyway, well, here we go.
