My early morning flight, I canceled, because it was 5 degrees, which is too hard on the airplanes. My afternoon flight, though, we decided to go ahead and do it. It was up to 15 degrees, and we had good heaters on the plane. I left it fully covered and heated until right before we went to fly. We only had 16 gallons of gas, which only gave us a little over an hour of flying, but if we'd have had to get gas, we'd have had to sit the plane out for half an hour in frigid temps to fuel up, and that wouldn't have been good. So we just flew for that hour and went with it. I got it fired up first try, and as long as you had power in, you stayed warm enough. Power at idle, out of the sun, it got really cold in there.
Kaylee came home tonight. I think she was lonely. It's good to see her. :)
My surgery is Monday morning, and as of Friday at 2 pm they hadn't told me anything about it. Where to go, can I eat that morning, how long is this going to take, nothing. So I called them and got voice mail. I left a message, and two hours later I knew they were going to be closed for the weekend, and I was going to be flying and unable to be on the phone, so I called back, got a person, and got some basic details. While I was up flying at 5 pm, they tried to call me back, but I couldn't do anything about it then. Annoying to not get info on what's supposed to be happening first thing Monday Morning. So here's what I know. Be at the hospital at 10 am, can't have food after midnight Sunday. No idea how long it will take, or how long before I can leave, or how long recovery will take or how bad it'll be. I guess I'll let you know.
Edited to add: P.S. Happy Valentines Day. ;)
A hand crafted wooden plane gift. P-51?
I tried to get shots of the huge icicles, but it's hard to see without perspective.
Kokomo Municipal Airport
Indiana Frozen Tundra
More icicles
I liked the icicles and sunshine
The icicle is more than halfway down the door. You could kill somebody with that thing. ;)
