Saturday

I sent Kaylee a care package today, of some t-shirts, laundry soap and dryer sheets and quarters, snacks, etc.  It was going to take 8 days to get there, and some of that she needed sooner.  So I had to send it faster, which was expensive, and still wouldn't get there until Tuesday.  So heads-up, if you want to send a package, it's going to take awhile to get there!

Ann got the heart monitor off this evening.  Lots of sticky tape sticking wires and probes all over.  That had to be uncomfortable!  I bet she sleeps better tonight.  :)

I had a checkout flight in the PT-26 this morning.  It took him 3 hours to get up here thanks to construction around Indianapolis.  Ridiculous.  We flew about an hour, and it was a good check flight.  A decent crosswind to play with.  From there a group of us grabbed lunch, and then Nathan, Steve, AE and I took off in the Cheyenne to go to KDUH, Michigan.  Right on the edge of the state, near Toledo, Ohio, and real close to Adrian where Lon & Cathy used to live.  It took us 31 minutes to get there in the Cheyenne.  The runway was only 50' wide, and there was no taxiway next to it, meaning you had to turn around on the 50' runway.  The taxiway from there to the ramp was super narrow, and we had to assess it before going down it, to make sure the props wouldn't hit, and then to make sure the taxiway reflector lights wouldn't hit, as they stuck up really far.  Coming in, there was a displaced threshold thanks to a bunch of tall trees right off the end.  So you're in the Cheyenne, skimming the tops of trees, slow on speed, then a burst of power to clear the last few trees, drop the nose and dive at the ground to keep your speed, pull it up at the last second to flare, touchdown before the actual numbers.  Boom.  We got turned around, and taxied in with the nosewheel ON the centerline, because it was the only way the main tires weren't falling off the side of the taxiway.  It was tight.  I bet we were one of the biggest things to ever be in that airport.  lol  It was interesting enough of a landing that both AE and Steve were saying it was the best part of the whole trip, and Steve yelled from the back "Can we do it again, Daddy??"  Nathan was landing, and we were both...concentrating.  :D

I got Kaylee's thank you cards mailed out, mostly.  She wrote them and got them ready, I just needed to get them stamped and sent.  So I think other than a few whose addresses we don't have handy, that was taken care of.

We have a day off tomorrow, and during which I'm going to try to get more stuff done, and then the work week kicks in, and I assume we'll be quite hopping again.

No pics from the Cheyenne today, just the back of the PT-26 this morning.  I braided my hair to try to prevent it from being a disaster this afternoon in Michigan.  I was partially successful, at least.  Probably won't have anything to say tomorrow, unless you want to hear "Today I cleaned the house" or something equally fascinating.  ;)
