So Sunday morning we got up and started getting ready, so that we could leave the house in time to be there by 12:45 or so. There isn't assigned seating, so with a group of 7 or 8 to sit together, we needed to be early, which we were. I didn't know where to sit, so I guessed, and I guessed a little wrong, but it worked out okay anyway. At 2 pm, everyone was seated, and the graduates came in. Kaylee was the 3rd person in, as a class officer. The four class officers were first in, each girl carrying a white lily. After everyone was seated, the four officers went to the front of the stage and gave opening remarks. They took turns with thank you notes, and then Kaylee gave an opening prayer, which was neat. Kaylee then stood up and walked back to the band, and she played the sax, standing, highlighted as a senior. None of us knew she was doing that, so that was pretty cool. Then she was over to the choir group, where they sang "You Raise Me Up" (and the National Anthem earlier). Dr. Standish gave a very funny and good graduation speech that actually kept us all interested and entertained. Then the diplomas were awarded, the tassels turned, and confetti and silly string popped. Photos were afterwards, inside and outside.
Our family went to Red Lobster for linner. (Late lunch early dinner). Kaylee wanted to go to Tucano's, but we ended up barely making it back in time from Red Lobster, let alone going to Indy for dinner, so it was a good call. It was a nice meal, and we got back in time for Steve and I to change clothes and gather stuff and then head right back out to the school, with Mom & Ernie. We set up the area for the Spring Fling party, games, entertainment, photo booth, etc. Mom & Ernie headed home, and the kids started heading in. We really had a pretty enjoyable evening. I wandered around taking pictures, Steve was a chaperone at the bouncy house area. There were so many prizes given away, it was amazing. Kaylee won quite a bit, but her big win was the biggest prize there. Out of 70 some kids attending, she was called as the prize-winner for the first big prize--a 40" Hitachi flat screen tv! She ended up trading it in for a mini-fridge, which she wanted more anyway. She had a great time with her friends. The DJ did a great job, the people who got all the prizes together did fantastic. Even the food was non-stop and good. At one point there was a "musical chairs" competition with everyone there. It was chaos. It was hysterical. Kids crashing into each other, chairs flying, people flying. The other moms were sitting there going "Oh my goodness, this is terrible, they shouldn't be doing this, someone's going to get hurt!" Meanwhile, I'm laughing like crazy, because it was too funny. The music stops and BAM. Chaos. Kaylee did well, but by the luck of the draw was at the far end when the music stopped after a few rounds. She went flying across two guys to get to a chair and ended up on top of them, and Peter H. who was em cee'ing it said "NICE, Kaylee" on the mic. Which was funny. We had adult tricycles there, which were one of the biggest hits of the night. And they ARE fun. I rode around on one too. One of the people there sent Kaylee a snapchat of me riding around on the bike before the other kids got there. But if you bought one of those tricycles and rented it out I'd think you could make a fortune if it didn't keep getting broken. The kids were on those All.Night.Long. They were definitely the biggest hit of the event. There was also a dodgeball tournament. Again, they didn't bubble wrap this one. They had all-out war on the dodgeball. One girl got hit in the face so hard it left a bruise on her cheek. The winners got $50 cash each, which we sponsored. Then there was a volleyball tournament too. Lots of activities, and nobody seriously injured, a good time was had by all, and it lasted four hours until 2 am. Afterwards, we parents stayed behind and cleaned up, and we got home sometime before 4 am. It really was a successful event, and I'm so grateful it went off without a hitch.
Three hours later I woke up with a problematic head. While I tried to go back to sleep, it never really works. I took some medicine and then had stuff to do all day. I flew the Champ down to Sheridan, ate my lunch on the way, and had an interesting landing at Sheridan. Tugged out the Cherokee 180 and flew it to Kokomo for maintenance. Tried to take a nap and got about 45 minutes in, then flew the Cherokee back down to Sheridan, put it away and flew the Champ back to Kokomo. Didn't have nearly as interesting a landing there. Put it away, had a 6-8 pm flight with a fellow doing checkride prep, and finally was able to sign him off to call the examiner. Woot. Then I had a night flight, starting 9:30 pm. I got home after midnight, was up till 1:30 am because I couldn't just walk in the door and pass out, and was up 3 hours later with a problematic head. Had to take more medicine, and this time just get up and get going, as I had lessons All Day Long. 9 am was a Champ checkout with a guy. On to lunch, then the rest were all in a row. Someone else's new student's first lesson, then a discovery flight, then I got a 40 minute nap in, sort of, then had Josh in the pattern, then one more night flight. Back home after midnight again. This time when I went to bed, thankfully I didn't wake up until like 9:15 am. I slept through all night, but today I felt a little bit like a zombie anyway. SO draggy. I had one flight tonight after a round of thunderstorms moved through, and the rest of the day I was trying to get stuff ready for the Open House. And doing laundry and the dishes that have piled up over the last three days, of course.
I didn't hit lunch today either, because I went to McAlister's to order tea and lemonade, and there was nowhere to park in their lot, and then people were standing outside the door to get in. Well, that's dumb, so I went over to the Party Store to order balloons. Except they've shut down there and moved to Markland Mall. Now I'm getting annoyed and nothing done. So I go there, and it takes awhile to figure out what to do and how, but I get that done. I stop and get gas, I call in the tea/lemonade order, I go to Meijer to order veggie and fruit plates, and that takes awhile too, but I finally get it accomplished. I look at their fresh flowers too, but I think I'll have to wait until Friday and get a bunch to put in the jars, then. I don't remember what else I did, but I stayed busy, trust me. Then the flight, then home where for one of the first times I had a few minutes to look at pictures, and write this.
Tomorrow and Friday will be extremely busy, then Saturday is a Young Eagle's event, and one of our instructors can't fly right now and has a bunch of students, and Steve is busy with the YE event, so I'll be busy with everybody else's students. I'm grateful that everything so far has been going off well. :)
So, here are picture overloads. I will leave them smaller, as it's less work for me. Enjoy!
