When I got that stuff dropped off at home, I had a flight this afternoon, a young guy working on the pattern. We got quite a few in, and he's picking it up. This is the hardest phase that seems to take forever--getting through the landing phase, the first 1/3 of flight training which really feels like (and is in reality) 3/4ths of it. So long, so much going around the pattern.
From there I went to the store to find a dress to wear to Kaylee's graduation. This did not go well. If there is something that makes me feel worse than shopping, it has to involve dentistry or invasive feminine medical procedures. And I'm not sure about them actually making me feel worse. I go in, and am faced with a room full of options. I don't know what size will work at this moment and with these brands, so I guess, and take a stack back. I figure out my size now, and go back out and get the ones in my size. Next, I try on these perfectly lovely dresses that looked good on the hangar, and then you put them on and look in the mirror, and your option is to laugh or cry. I try on probably a dozen dresses, maybe more. I'm hot and disheveled and uncomfortable and red-faced and disgruntled. I narrow it down to three dresses that only made me flinch a little bit, and send selfies from the mirror to Kaylee and ask which one if any would be okay to show up wearing to Graduation, or if I should scrap it and go somewhere else. She liked two of the three, and her and Meredith picked the one I ended up getting. I was exhausted but not yet done, so now I tried to find a pair of black pants that fit better than the ones I have now. One pair is too tight, the other too baggy. So today I hunted down a pair of black pants and a pair of jeans, too. I went to then get white shoes to go with my new dress, but they only had one pair in stock and it was too...busy...with the pattern on my dress too. So I let that go for another day. I tried on a couple of dress shirts. The ones that fit gapped at the chest, and the one that didn't gap at the chest was way too long/baggy. So I gave up on that, too. Oh how I love shopping, staring at myself in large mirrors in fluorescent lighting, in various forms of undress, wearing things that look ridiculous. I need a body double to just go find things that look good and bring them to me. ;)
Tomorrow is Kaylee's band concert, so I'm looking forward to that. She's not at the moment, says her spotlight performance of Moon River didn't sound good today, and she's a little stressed by it. I think it'll probably come together very nicely by tomorrow night, it usually does. Reminds me, I need to get my camera battery charged on my good camera so I can get some good shots maybe of her last band performance. :)
I ran around all day today. ALL day, to all sorts of stores, doing all sorts of things. I'm wiped. So now it's past midnight, and it's time to get ready for tomorrow. Ann did a great job getting the invitations and announcements addressed, so now I am going to get those in the mail tomorrow before lunch, which will be great. That's a great load off of the mind! Next I need to work on her pictures presentation for the Open House. And a few things for the Spring Fling. She's up right now working on a paper that was due at midnight. She's late. But she'll get it done tonight.
On my way to Peru, IL. Little storm showed up on ADS-B radar, and out the window.
