The Quick Run

This morning I had to wake up early in order to be wheels up at 8 am.  So my alarm goes off at 6:30 am, and I look over, and I have a text and voicemail from Eastern that they are on a 2-hour delay due to fog.  What? Fog? There wasn't supposed to be fog. I guess there is fog.  So I went back to sleep and so did Kaylee.  The fog took longer to burn off than they said, too (of course).  But finally around 9 am it was up to "minimums", so I decided to fly IFR over to Muncie and sit over there and wait for VFR when my chase plane could get over there and come get me.  I took another instructor with me, Jerry, just for the fun of it.  We took off IFR, and by the time I actually got to Muncie 20 minutes later, it was VFR there.  We went to the restaurant on field and had a cup of coffee, and about 20 minutes later it was VFR in Kokomo, too, and my chase pilot was able to come get us.  That was all the flying for the day--from there, it was business as usual getting other stuff done.

Steve and I went out to eat tonight.  We're still a little amazed that we can both go do something during the evenings.  Kaylee driving herself has changed our lives.  We hadn't really realized that we could almost never both go do something at the same time because one of us had to be on constant Kaylee shuttle duty.  Tonight she didn't get home until after 8 pm, stayed at school for Musical practice.  The show is coming soon!
