Smack

Another day, another batch of excessive driving.  Today after school Kaylee had Musical practice (yesterday was Encore practice for ISSMA for choir).  Steve came with me and we had some broccoli cheddar soup at McCalister's before I had to turn around and fetch her for our fourth run out there for the day.

Bad news for us today.  My Explorer has blown an engine.  Long story short, it'll cost $5000 to replace the engine.  If we don't, the car is worth a couple hundred bucks and we start over trying to find another vehicle.  If we do, we're out $5000 but we have a zero time engine, new transmission, and well kept body with no rust, corrosion, good paint, etc.  So in the middle of February, a nice slow time of the year for us, we get to drop a lot of money down in one unexpected lump sum.  Last year it was a roof.  It would be nice if next winter we could have smoother sailing.  The nice thing is that we did get a lot of years and a lot of miles out of the engine...
