Back

It seems as though the deer accident will work out okay.  Because we have full collision coverage on one car in our "fleet", everything will be covered on the accident except the deductible.  That includes the charges while the car is down for repair, and everything.  The deductible is $500, so that's still a good chunk, but it's better than the thousands it could have been.  Meanwhile, the credit card that we happened to use to set up the account with DOES provide coverage as well.  We have to pay the deductible first, then apply with the card for them to reimburse us for any outstanding charges.  So we'll try that and see if they'll actually do that.  Normally I pay for this with the MBros card.  I'm not sure how this would have changed if I'd done that.  Would my personal insurance still have helped?  Would the company be on the hook for anything?  Would their card provide that additional coverage?  So, so far I'm grateful for the way things have worked out!

Yesterday I had a dental appointment to fix a cracked back molar, which I already went through in detail on Facebook, so I don't feel like repeating in detail again.  But suffice it to say 1) I HATE going to the dentist and 2) I really, really hate going to the dentist.  As he was doing the procedure and I could feel a piece of my tooth broken off onto my tongue, it started hurting really bad again, and I didn't even realize how tense I was until he stopped and asked if it was hurting.  Dentists get good at reading body language I'm sure.  I said it felt like it was burning.  Ugh.  Dentists.  But buddy when he did get me all numbed up, I couldn't feel a thing for hours and hours.  In fact, my jaw where all the needles had gone didn't even hurt until the next day.  lol

We went to a Christmas party and meeting down in Indy for the CAF, and I was thawed out enough to eat and talk without slurring my words or drooling or biting my face, at least.  So that was a win.  By the end of the night everything felt pretty well back to normal.  By today it kinda hurt.

Today I had to take Kaylee to school, then go out to the airport and run the Aerostar around a bit before some maintenance.  Our cousin Dave H came along with me for the quick trip and I think enjoyed himself.

I was hoping to solo a guy today.  He'd been steady and consistent the last three flights.  He brought his wife and father-in-law out.  He got there early.  Then the plane didn't get back until right on time.  Then it needed fuel.  Then it took him 30 minutes to preflight it.  By now we had 20 minutes of sunlight left.  If he could do 2-3 solid ones in a row, I'd get out.  I took a golf cart out there so I could run his family closer since we'd be on Runway 5.  Except he just was psyched out.  He was inconsistent.  I had to grab one.  He complained about his seat and the carpeting and his back and all sorts of things, but bottom line was that he wasn't leveling off and flaring properly all of a sudden.  I kept trying to get 2-3 consistent ones out of him so I could at least get out for one.  But by the time the sun was gone and the lights were on, it was Not Happening.  So his wife and father-in-law sat for an hour, after she left work early, and my camera was in the back seat, winds right down the runway at 5 knots, and the golf cart re-positioned, with the goal to be soloed in 2017, and all in place for something we just couldn't get done.  But a person has to be able to handle the pressure, or they're not ready anyway.  And trying to force it when it's not happening is a recipe for disaster.  So we'll keep working on it.   He'll get it, even if it's not before we shut down for 2017.

Last but not least I had a night cross country flight, and got home around 9 pm.  One nice thing about night time in December is that you don't have to wait until 9-10 pm before you can even START.  :)

Well, I got some pretty sunset shots, but it's late and I'm finally sleepy, so...
