I picked a fine time to not sleep! I went to sleep around midnight and woke up at the inevitable 4 am and never did get back to sleep. Ugh. But today went all right. The winds were just enough to make him have to work with it without being problematic. We did an engine failure to landing, an aborted takeoff, three point and wheel landings, a few gentle stalls, steep turns, and went over to Marion to do a more narrow runway. He calls me "boss", which is funny, he's a former military pilot with wartime experience. I told him that I had done what I needed to do, and I'd be willing to sign him off. He said he wanted to stay around until Friday, fly every day, build time, get very proficient and comfortable. So I have a full time client here this week, all week. He picked it up very fast, so I started pushing him already today. Tomorrow I'm taking him to Sheridan to do some grass strip work, and maybe the 50' concrete runway. The only problem with the 50' runway is that from the back I've got absolutely nothing, no view at all on a runway that size, so I'd be truly relying on him to be straight and do it right, although I should be able to go around and keep it okay if need be. We'll see. We'll at least hit the grass.
Kaylee baked a batch of cookies last night, and gave them to a boy in her special needs "life skills" class for his birthday. She said he was excited and appreciated them. I thought it was nice of her to do that, and she didn't think anything about it. :)
