Everyone finished the puzzle before midnight, so that was mission accomplished. :) We woke up yesterday, had a huge brunch, and then dove into Christmas #2. The girls played a few games, and we all hung out. At the end of the evening we watched some of the end of year festivities, watched the ball drop twice, once at 11 pm Central time as it went to midnight at home, and a second time when it hit midnight in Tennessee. And here came 2017.
It was a grey, drizzly new year day. We got up around 8 or so, and went to a late morning church service. An Irish Christian band did the music, and they were really good. And were actually legit Irish, from Ireland, accents and all. I really enjoyed them. The lead singer made me laugh on a couple things. He said "We're not just here to sing, but to worship. If we were just here to sing, it would be nothing but Christian karaoke." The reason that made me laugh is because that's EXACTLY what some of that feels like, as they put the words up on the screen overhead and you try to follow the invisible bouncing ball on the words. The other thing that made me laugh was when he said "If we were home in Ireland, there would be NOBODY here first thing New Year morning. So all you people just established your Super Christian Status for the entire upcoming year." Proof that they weren't all hung over from the night before. :) The church was so packed out, they weren't prepared for that number of people. They had to make sure they had enough communion and stuff for everyone, and it was standing room only on the sides. Kind of neat. They did do communion, but they did something I hadn't seen before, so I made a bit of a gaffe. They passed around communion trays, and I noticed I had two little cups stuck together. I figured it was a backup or something. He talked about the body of Christ, everyone tipped back their cups, so I did too. Then Steve leans over and says "The bread is in the second cup." So I took communion backwards, and so did Kaylee, but it's the thought that counts, right? :)
Cathy and Lon prepared a huge lunch, and we ate ourselves into a coma. :)
Kaylee wanted and got a lock pick set for Christmas. So today she dove into picking locks, and she's been getting them, faster and faster. She has three different padlocks that she's been practicing on, and she's getting pretty good. It's kind of scary, actually.
The girls all went to the mall today, aiming for some good deals and to use up a couple gift cards. I'd say a good time was had by all. We watched a movie tonight, and enjoyed spending the last evening together...tomorrow I guess it's time to go home and get back to life/work...
