Tuesday

It was an early morning to what was to be an easy day.  I was supposed to be flying by 8:30, and done by 10:30, doing a photo imaging flight.  I didn't get off the ground until 9, but other than that everything went according to plan.  It was a severe clear day, I had no problem getting the fields, and I was home by 11.  I took apart everything out of the airplane again, got it all put away, and then got a text from M. to call them.  When I did, he said, "we just added another flight for today, if you can do it, because it's so beautiful out today."  It was a SIX HOUR FLIGHT.   So I went from a two hour flight to an 8 hour one.  I wouldn't do all of it.  I had plans tonight, plans today in fact, but I did go out and get 4 of the 5 new fields they wanted.  That last field was over by Toledo, Ohio, and I skipped it so that I could be back and done after less than 4 hours instead of 6.  So annoying.  I wasn't very happy and he knew it.  It's a good thing they pay well, but dumping an entire work day on someone who had planned for 2 hours is just not cool.  It ended up taking me from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm to get everything done anyway, with less than an hour in there for fuel and lunch.  I billed them for all of it, including my lunch.

Had a kid on a checkride today.  He got the oral done, and then the examiner said it seemed a little too windy, so the kid agreed and they postponed.  But the kid was ready to take the checkride in  those winds.  He's good, and he practiced in the same winds yesterday and did great.   But what are you going to do if the examiner says "it seems too windy"?  So he's halfway done, with only the flight left to go.

After I got back from my last photo flight, we met up with an old friend of Steve's and her new spouse, and we flew to Rick's Boatyard Cafe in Indianapolis for dinner.  We ate too much and enjoyed the evening, making it back in time for me to pick up Kaylee from band practice at 9:15.  Home at 9:30 or so, and it has been a long, tiring day and we're all ready to pass out now...and I didn't get stuff done around here that I needed to.  Hopefully tomorrow morning...

Tonight on the way home from Eagle Creek.
