Kaylee is well enough to go to school but not really feeling all that great. Seems to be a cold type of bug. Sore throat from drainage, cotton-headed, sometimes a headache, stuffy sinuses, runny nose. No fever, still eating well, no lethargy, so she's not really sick sick at least. I always know when that girl is sick because she won't eat. Any other time, she can out-eat me both of us. :)
It was a gorgeous day and I only had one flight. Originally I had three. One was canceled for a board meeting I had tonight, the second canceled because his checkride was rescheduled and he had a Calculus test to study for, and the third, technically the first, went off as planned. It ended up being a good thing the afternoon cleared off, because I ended up spending over two hours in the car instead, running Kaylee back and forth. Here's how that went.
I leave the house at 2:45 pm to pick up Kaylee from school. We get all the way back to Kokomo, in the drive-thru at Starbucks (the one that didn't get blown over in the tornado), and she checks her phone to find 13 phone calls from her band director. One every 45 seconds or so. She checks her voice mail to find that he wants her back there for a jazz band practice that started at 3:30. (She also took a screen shot of her phone log of 13 calls in a row and sent it to him and said "Was that really necessary?" LOL) So I turn around and run her back to school. She doesn't know when it will be over, yet. She has choir practice at 6 and needs pants and socks from home. I drop her off at school at 3:45, and run back home, pick up her pants and socks, and she says "We're supposed to be done at 4:30 mom". It's now already 4:10. So I turn immediately around and drive back out to the school, getting there at 4:30. Now what are we supposed to do between now and her choir practice at 6, and I have a board meeting at 6? I went to the one fast food place in town, Subway, and we sat for an hour there. I drove her back to school, then drove right to the school board meeting, where they were serving Subway for dinner . Was glad I ate with her so I could get what I wanted. Usually they serve great home made Quaker food, but tonight short-cutted it, so, like I said, was glad I already ate. ;) Board meeting ran pretty late, and I got home about 8:30, 8:40 pm. So from 2:45 until almost 5 pm I was actually driving one direction or the other from the school to the house. It was a good thing my afternoon students canceled.
I leave this here with a quiet "Oh, the irony."
