Saturday

I'm watching my last Oshkosh airshow of the year as I type this with two fingers on my iPad because I can't find my keyboard. :) It's beautiful up here right now, a perfect day.

Thursday morning I signed a student off on his solo long cross country, then Danny flew me up to Fon du Lac in the RG. The weather was marginal again and I wasn't going IFR again, so we waited awhile before we left. When we finally did, we got within 30 miles of FLD and their ATIS said the field was temporarily closed.  I hunted for another place to go, and just as we were passing FLD again I checked again, and they were back open. It was a zoo, with airplanes lined up all down the taxiway to get out, you couldn't get a word in, and we sat in the way for five minutes before ground go to us. We had to shut down in the middle of the ramp and let them tow us away for fuel.  But I was back, this time for good. :)

These next two days, we just did Oshkosh. We walked through all the buildings, watched a short-field contest at the ultralights area, ate out, grilled out for steak night, had a giant fire with a lot of folks around having a good time, we walked a lot, saw what we could, and spent some time kicking back with our feet up at the trailer too.

I didn't have any photo mission flights, I didn't do the women fly group photo, I didn't meet up with anyone up here, I didn't go to the T-6 forum for the first time this year, and I was good with all that.  I needed a break. I think Kaylee did too, because she didn't do as much as she usually does either.

Tonight we go to Wendt's on the Lake, then to the night air show. And other than Kaylee flying home with me in the T-6, that will be the end of Oshkosh 2016...
