Traveling

Kaylee is currently on a Delta flight to Frankfurt, Germany.  The link to FlightAware is here:  http://flightaware.com/live/flight/DAL86.  She should be there around 2:30 a.m. our time.  I hope she enjoys the airline flight as a new experience.   This morning she got up at 6 a.m., we left for Indy in the car at 7:30, got there at 9, hung out until 10, then she went to the gates past security, we left, and she hung out there until noon, then she was on board and on her way to Detroit. Where they had a SIX hour layover.  So they stayed in Detroit until 7 pm, before they could finally board that one and head for Germany.  Kaylee said "So let me get this straight.  We do all this, or instead we could have left our house at 5 pm and just gone directly to Detroit in time for the real flight.  We spent the whole day getting nowhere.  And this is why I'm getting my pilot's license, isn't it.  I am really beginning to appreciate the utility."  ;)  She sent a few photos of them waiting, texted now and then, and we told her she has to tell us what she's up to while she's gone.  Also, HERE is a Facebook page of their trip where you can follow along on what they're doing.

In the meantime, Steve and I drove back to Kokomo and got there in time for lunch, after which I went out to Kokomo and took a gentleman's Cardinal and flew it to Kenosha, Wisconsin for some maintenance work.  I could pretty much see the small town we lived in up there for 8 years, which was weird.  I was too busy right then and in the wrong airspace to be messing around, but there it was.  Anyway, I always go over land any more in a single engine.  Go down in Lake Michigan and your odds are not good.  But Kenosha, because of its location and the airspace, it would just be very awkward and hugely way out of the way to go over land to get there.  So I hugged the coastline and stayed under the airspace.  I was high enough that should anything happen, I'd be able to likely land right next to shore at least.  It was very pretty, but I still prefer two spinny things out front.

Ty followed me in the Viking and picked me up.  When we left, we were farther out over the water.  I squirm about it, Ty moved a little closer, but in the Viking, we weren't going to glide anywhere close to shore.  Bleh.  So I'm looking out at the water and he pipes up with "Huh.  The oil pressure is dropping."  I spin my head back inside and he bursts out laughing.  Oh yeah, man VERY FUNNY!!  :P

So here are a few photos from today.

Obligatory Skyline Photo.  The water looks neat though.

Pretty clouds, rays of light shining down.
