Singing

We spent a lot of today in the car.  Steve dropped Kaylee off at the bus at 9 a.m., and then he and I drove down to a town south of Indianapolis so we could watch her performance for the State Choral Competition.  It was about an hour and a half down there.  We would have been a little early, but we stopped for food, and were stuck at the drive thru for like 20 minutes.  Now we were going to be about RIGHT on time.  We ran into a little traffic and construction too, but finally got there, and had no idea where to go.  Wherever it was, it was of course on the other side of this big ole school.  (Again, I'm glad I didn't go to a school that big.)  We made it with about 5-10 minutes to spare, but we made it.

The girls performed, and we watched other groups too.  The one right after Kaylee's "Starlets" group was the local hosting school's group.  It's a big school, so there were a lot of girls, and they had nice outfits too, but they did a few  moves that were too adult, and they weren't great.  Afterwards I told Kaylee who else we'd watched, and she said "Oh, was that group the one that my friends were saying was doing dance moves that were making everybody uncomfortable because they were inappropriate?"  Yep.  Even the other high schoolers there didn't care for it, so that says something.   Anyway, both of Eastern's groups got Gold Medals.  I'm not surprised.  The school just does a really nice music/choir program.  :)

An hour and a half drive later, we were home, and then I had to drive to Greentown to pick up Kaylee at the school.  She had a Starlets party to go to this evening, so after I drove her home to change clothes, I drove her back out to the party, and came home.   And a few hours later I drove back out to Greentown to pick her up from the party, and home.  So, like I said, spent plenty of time in a car today.  But...the kid had a good Saturday, and another contest has been successfully completed.

Here are a bunch of photos of their performances.  :)
