Cold winter day, was today. No flying. So other productive things occurred. I shipped back a bunch of Kaylee's luggage that Steve got together. Among the other usual errands. I did decide to do one different thing today, and I stopped at the nail salon to get the ole eyebrows waxed, and to get a manicure, which I haven't had in...years? But my fingers looked awful, and I wanted to get my nails and cuticles taken care of so I can grow them back out and have them be decent again. The first lady looked at them and said "What do you want me to do with them?" I had already explained the above. I don't know any more than that--I just want a manicure. She had another lady come over, who asked the same question. I know they're short-ish, and don't match in length, but shape them all the same, and just clean them up! So she did.
At one point she asked me if I minded if she did the massage. Sure. So she was rubbing my wrist, forearms, hands, fingers, etc., and she said "You are very tense here. You should try acupressure. You need to relax. See how tense your forearms are? And when I turn your wrists, you feel that? I can't loosen it up. Why are you so tense?" She also said "You bite your cuticles?" I said yes, I pick at them and bite, gets worse when something's bothering me. She told me I needed to stop that. I said I was trying, working on it. She flapped her hand at me and said "Oh, Bah. Either you do it or you don't. Trying is useless." Well, darn, who knew Yoda was a 20-year-old Vietnamese girl!
When I picked Kaylee up at the school, she let me know that the dresses she was trying to use for the Howard County Music Festival wouldn't work. So we had to go dress shopping at 5:30 pm. I took her to the consignment shop, because you can get fancy formal dresses for much cheaper. We got Kaylee a deep blue/green formal, regularly about $250, for $70, and a pair of black heels on sale for $2. She has another dress she may wear that a friend of hers has, too, but she couldn't take the chance of not having one, since this thing is Saturday and tomorrow is Friday and she hadn't found one she could use yet. So, now we're covered. She looked beautiful. Fifteen. Goodness.
